The Dark Knight Batman's Theme Music in TDK

Is it possible for Zimmer to come up with a theme to match or better elfmans batman march? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

The one unarguably superior aspect of burtons bat films! THE MUSIC!

It's like trying to come up with a 'better' theme for indy or superman! C'mon, Fuggetaboutit!!!

Only if they weren't going to make a completely different Indy or Superman movie then I would agree with you. But thats not the case, Burton's music would not work for BB or TDK.

see, what i cant wait to hear is the joker music, maybe something like the acordian line from 12 monkeys.

Zimmer better come up with the theme of his life for the Joker. No more "earned" bulls**t, time to step up. And i hope he uses violin, the instrument favoured by clowns, capable of creepy sounds or sad ones.

A little something i put together using bits of what we heard throughout begins, along with the end credit piece.. could be near to what we get in TDK.. could be nowhere near lol i may create another using molossus at some point. :ninja:

Niiiiice.

I like Zimmer, but if you watch a lot of the movies he scores, its a lot of the heavy percussion pulse type score, such as Crimson Tide, and it sometimes sounds very similar to me.

I agree The Thin Red Line score was good. And while I said I do like Zimmer, I gotta admit that I thank god the severly underrated JNH was involved.

For Joker, I hear a lot of disjointed notes and melodies, maybe some staccato...much more of a melodic noise than an actual theme. It'd be akin to what you'd hear in the halls of Arkham if you stopped and listened. It would be weird, chaotic, and plain crazy.

You're talking Ligeti or Pendereki like in the Shining why not ? But he also needs a very strong theme, a recognisable melody, maybe a tragic one for the greatest character ever. That's why the violin is an interesting option, capable of the most chaotic sounds as well as the most sad and beautiful melodies and, like i said before, the instrument favoured by clowns all over the world.

This raises an interesting question. Is the Joker a tragic character? Is it possible to feel sympathy for him?

Zimmer will make a KILLER theme...i know it...this movie is already EPIC it has no flaws!!!!!!!!

You're just looking to be let down. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks great too. But you're asking a lot of this movie.

The tragic music of The phantom of the opera 's harpsychord vs the ultra violence of Alex De Large done to the magnificent music of Beethoven.
Murder and mayhem can be done with beautiful and even sad music in the background, without necessarly feeling sympathy for the protagonist. But I see what you mean and i sometimes think of the Joker as a tragic figure but that might come from the TKJ influence. I just think that sad music is very powerful, specially in a soundtrack.

I agree with what you said. And I certainly wouldn't want them beating us over the head with the "look, his dad beat him and his mom was a *****" routine. I've always felt a stronger connection with sad/dark music than
with happy music though. I'm not sure why, but it seems more interesting with me. And it doesn't get me down or make me depressed.

I completely agree with you. A tragic and beautiful music would even work and be very powerful when the Joker carves a smile on one of his victim. You got what i was trying to say, cheers.

I'd prefer no music for the Joker. The world should stop when he's in the room

I'd lean more to a Prokofiev or Shostakovich style. Clear melody, brutal, rythmic, dissonant and witty. Perfect combo.

Good idea. I still believe he should have a strong and beautiful theme, that could be distorted into something chaotic and creepy. The violin, the clowns' instrument, could achieve that.

Good idea as well. I thought about that too. Sometimes silence is the best theme! :wow:

Of course I could be wrong, but I don't think Joker will get a theme. Batman is JUST getting one and its his second movie. We may get a motif but if so, it will probably underscore Joker's actions more than the actual character.

his music is always so powerful i hope he writes some new exciting cues for the action
