The Dark Knight Batman's Theme Music in TDK

nobody mentioned the superman themes from lois and clark or the cartoon though :o

Well, lets just say anything Shirley Walker composed was great. I have it all in my music collection.

RIP Shirley Walker.

I think it would have been interesting to see how she would handle a live-action superhero film. Or even Superman: Doomsday.

Ah well, at least she is immortalized in her fantastic work.

Now the Lois and Clark theme... its alright. But nothing "super"... (bad joke)

I loved Elfman's theme, but It belongs with the old ones not these movies. I think it will be a good idea to try something different, and Im going to wait to actually hear it before I rip it.

There are several 'themes' in the BB score. They are just not linked to any of the characters, more to psychological happenings in the story. An attempt to clarify:

Piano themes:
Theme 1: the beginning of Corynorhinus, Macrotus (0:39). In the expanded score of BB, the track is called "Gotham". It also appears in the end credits. For fellow musicians: you can find the sheet music here: http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18510&d=1176500145
Theme 2: appears in Eptesicus. A simple three note motif: A - E - B - E - A - E - B - E, etc.

Strings:
Theme 1: Macrotus (1:09), Corynorhinus (1:57).
Theme 2: the staccatto strings (with brass) can be heard in Vespertillio, the second half of Eptesicus and throughout Molossus. And in Jablonsky's score for Transformers. :woot:
Theme 3: Molossus (3:33) I'm not sure if this is a seperate theme, but I think this is the theme that Zimmer wants to use in TDK. I'm not sure, but I believe it wasn't used in BB. It starts with a synth bassline. Then the brass, percussion and strings come in.

Percussion:
The beginning of BB. And the track Vespertillio (Travelling The World on the expanded score).

Then there's some separate stuff like the end of Barbastella (the scene in the cave with the bats) and the action music in Myotis (Bruce Wayne escaping from the League of Shadows).

In a recent interview Hans stated he held back on Batman's theme in BB because he hadn't earned it yet, but he had hinted at it in the film, etc.

I remember watching the final trailer for BB and being completely knocked out by the ending theme, a clear continuation of the Molossus theme on the ST (Batman's Main Theme). I wonder if this is what the new theme will grow into in TDK? I think it's excellent.

You can hear it here, @ 2:00 in.

wow. this is brand new to me. I never heard this anywhere before in my life. You so totally surprised me today.

I never noticed that music in the trailer either. Cool Find.

I believe what Zimmer means is that the Batman in these movies hasn't become "The Dark Knight" that we know and love in the comics, and when that moment finally comes, that's when the new theme is presented.

Personally, I like it.

I hope its better then that music that started 2:00

Hey Majik...

Your Resident Evil cast thing is bad-ass....great choices on Leon, Wesker, and Milo.

Exactly.

Nothing's wrong with it, but in order to earn something, that something has to exist, which it never did. And instead of admitting it, creating a bs excuse that "he hasn't earned it yet" is pathetic.

So because you don't like the idea that makes it a pathetic excuse??? that's kind of weird actually.... Even though I don't like that idea, it's certainly not a pathetic excuse - they just obviously have a different opinion than me... calling it a pathetic excuse is kind of childish really....

was that the international trailer or fan made? I have never seen that before...it was great!

No kidding. That wasn't anything special.
Yeah, I want something epic and deep. Like the song called antrozous in BB, that song was awesome and what ever scene it played with it made it 10 times better

I liked the music in the teaser, I just hope that it isnt all the new theme is going to be, sounds like something that would be played as tension is building in the film.

"Earned" score. lol @ that. That's an excuse. Superheroes don't earn incidental music. No one does.

Truth is too many people noticed the theme wasn't as good as Elfman's.

That said, I'm not one of those people. I think the theme BB had was good enough for the new franchise and needn't to be changed at all.

"It's not the score that they wrote for you, but what you eeeeeeeeearn what defines you"
