The Dark Knight Batmobile To Go BOOM!?

How could I forget Dini? Completely agree.

I have a feeling Nolan might abdicate directorial duties on the third film and stick around as a producer. But that's just IMO.

I hope you're wrong. I really cannot wait to purchase the Nolan Batman Trilogy DVD Box set one day.

I really hope it's not a motorcycle - it just doesn't work for me. I guess if anybody could make it work, it would be Nolan.

Again, a boat makes a lot more sense than a bike.

I guess it all just depends on what the occurences in the film require. I.e. if the occurences in the film require transport on water a Boat would be ideal. Or if transport on land is required a car or cycle would be best suited.

I could definately see the possibility of a bike as a temporary mode of transport with the tumbler out of action. The only concern I would have, which is the same as most others is how his cape would be contained.

Since, the tumbler is going boom then how long have they been working on the new batmobile since the winter of 06.

You know... after reading posts here about the geographical layout of Gotham City (which I hadn't thought about until I read them) a boat probably would make more sense than a bike... however, for the "coolness" factor - I think a motorcycle scene would be more impressive (a choice that producers might make...) and remember, this is a huge movie (in terms of budget) and they want to catch attention. Not saying that this is being exactly comic book or real world verse faithful - but, these things are discussed when putting together a movie as well.

Exactly, it's the geographical layout of the city that lends itself to a boat more than a bike.

A boat looking similar to the Tumbler flying down a canal within the city would definitely catch attention if you ask me.....imagine an overhead shot at night with it flying down a canal within skyscrapers and going underneath street overpasses............that would be excellent.

That statement doesn't make sense. The tumbler already IS the batmobile. Just because they dont call it that and it doesn't have giant fins on it doens't keep it from being the batmobile. I hope we never hear that name in the films, anyways. Whatever car Batman drives will be known as the batmobile to fans, and thats all that matters.

It's why I get kinda annoyed every time i see fans refer to it as the tumbler. I mean, sure you can do that when you're in a discussion about the various batmobiles, just like you'd call the Burton and Shumacher cars the "burtonmobile" and "those stupid neon pieces of ****" respectivley. But in a thread obviously about Nolan's movie, just call it the Batmobile, we know which one you mean.

Hell, the name tumbler only came up once in the movie by Fox anyways.

what are you talking about? We agree. i said the tumbler already IS the batmobile and was explaining that its destruction, in order to give way to the tumbler 2.0 ie the batmobile- didn't make sense because the tumbler IS the batmobile. did i not explain that clearly?

why would you get annoyed- the movie CALLS it the tumbler! we're not mocking it- it's just the official name for what we all know is the tumbler. PS- hit the DVD extras too and listen to nolan and company call it the tumbler as well.

it's actually short for 'pawn', which is the exact opposite of 'own' :o

LOL dude. that made my day. hilarious...

Oh I'm not suggesting that.

I just said I suspect that the Tumbler was always meant to be the prototype to the Batmobile. I think it will be modified in its look and functions but it won't be a departure from the Tumbler designed. Kind of like the Enterprise from the original series to the Enterprise from Movies with the original crew.

Nor do think or hope that Batman would start referring to it as the Batmobile. I would expect that term to be coined by the Gotham media.

^ we agree on both- no "batmobile" language except from the media, and a modified tumbler. both reasonable and likely.

I would too! I think something similar to a tomahawk, but black would be awesome.

a little more stream lined- but yeah something kick ass like. maybe it's because i'm a motorcycle (crotch rocket) enthusiast i'd love to see a motorcycle scene done right- instead of done M:I 2.

I still remember seeing the VRod in XMen... that's when my obsession for her began... Ms. V. Rod LoL.

The batmobile getting destroyed reminds too much of the old batman movies. 2 out of 4 in the old series had the batmobile getting destroyed.

i understand that- but what if they did it differently- as in MELTING the batmobile instead of exploding it.

i like this idea: joker lures batman into a highspeed chase and as the tumbler drives under some rigged spot a waiting vat of acid is poured from above on the car and the rest of the scene is batman trying to stay on joker's tail while the batmobile is falling apart around him. it melts and breaks around him and he has to crash and fight his way out of the cockpit :)

Wasn't there a news piece several months ago about the car crashing into water and Batmans suit filling with water. Or did I just make that up?

isn't he signed for 3? i've read conflicting reports there; i know bale is.

man i don't want to lose nolan (unless he effs up TDK and I doubt that).

I don't want to either...I dunno, maybe I've just become used to people complaining about him that I assumed my enthusiasm for a full trilogy wasn't shared by many and that someone else would take over for the end.

It's not just you - the thread was deleted.

hunter, if you're out there, why was Ubu's thread deleted?

Nolan not directing the third film? I certainly hope the phuck not!

What thread was this Miranda ? i didn't delete it but i can try and find out why.

Is this Nolan not doing the third stuff just old hyperbole ?

As for Bike or Boat,i am easy, what i like is Nolan is trying new things and moving forward, that excites me personally

odd how i associate the bat boat with the horrific finale in batman forever and therefore don't want to see another boat, and yet robin has a bike in part 4 and i'm dying to see that done right.

It's an assumption on my part - I always got the feeling he wasn't a sequels guy and only did TDK because he thought the plot kicked arse. Plus I see so many people complaining about him these days I kind of assumed people wouldn't want him back either...

Anyway, the thread was titled something like 'Possible new info' and detailed the Drunk Guy's rambling about TDK and what happens to the Tumbler and the batsuit which require they be changed/altered in TDK.

I've mentioned this twice already, but when you take the geographical layout of Gotham into consideration, it's surrounded by water.

-Wayne Manor borders water.
-Canals running within the city's interior.
-Narrows and Arkham are both on an island.
-Gotham itself is on a harbor.

The canals within the city almost act as roads without traffic. I think it's perfect, but again, what do I know? :yay:

Ahh,well i think he and Goyer mapped this out as a trilogy and i'm confident he'll deliver:up:

I'll take a look for it

If the Tumbler gets destroyed, could we then see a replacement Batmobile closer to that in the comics?
