The Dark Knight Batmobile To Go BOOM!?

this whole thing reminds me of batman's first encounter with the joker, when he leaps into the joker's speeding car and they get into a fight over a bridge. joker beats the hell out of batbrains, and throws him in the river. could this bring even more truth to that one rumor of batman almost drowning?

This makes me sad. I don't want the Tumlber to get destroyed. I love that car.

*sniff*

Plus, I'd like a little continuity between movies this time out. :D

Still, Nolan likes the Tumbler as much as I do, so maybe Batman will just get another one?

you know what? if that's true, I think you got something with that.

Yeah that was all Ubu's scoop. But because he was a n00b no one believed him. I did. I unconvered news about 24 but no one at those boards believed me because of my post number. Oh the irony. However - I did believe UBU when he rolled into town and started telling us. He seemed credible in the way he talks (is it just me or sometimes can u just tell who's a troll and who's got a legit love for the character?) So I still stand by UBU.

And Keyser......sniffle.....i loved the tumbler too.

F-u-c-k the Batbike.

If the Tumbler gets destroyed, could we then see a replacement Batmobile closer to that in the comics?

You say that as though there is any consistency in comic book Batmobiles.

There is not. It changes with each new artist.

In that sense, Nolan is just a new Batman artist who brought his own Batmobile to the ballpark.

They all do.

Word.

i swear to God, Showtime's avatar continously creeps the hell out of me.

the Tumbler is a great car. I love it. BUT what more can they do with it? they used the Tumbler in all the ways it'd be used. the jumping, the gunner position, stealth mode, etc. any other chase would just be a different sequence but with the same elements from BB.

I've mentioned this twice already, but when you take the geographical layout of Gotham into consideration, it's surrounded by water.

-Wayne Manor borders water.
-Canals running within the city's interior.
-Narrows and Arkham are both on an island.
-Gotham itself is on a harbor.

The canals within the city almost act as roads without traffic. I think it's perfect, but again, what do I know? :yay:

I thoroughly concur. Overhead shots of it speeding through the canals would be too good. I despise the idea of a bike, it's so corny.

car chases are always for the wooow factor.

i wouldnt have a problem with a car chase with everything updated.

Yep I've mentioned early in the thread as well, I think people just choose to ignore it!

Also, a boat would be handy for sneaking up on crooks at wharves at jetties, busting smugglers and so on because they're usually guarding from the street side. I can imagine that being a pretty cool scene.

These are kinda cool. It could be shaped more like a manta ray/bat and it could breach onto the decks of ships or jetties, or even travel through underground water ducts and sewers.

a manta-ray shaped Batboat, that would be cool!

^Yup, I agree with the three of you - a boat would make the most sense BY FAR. A motorcycle borders on the campy and corny in my opinion.

It's also funny that people like Sasquatchs don't think it through enough about the geographical layout of Gotham and think that a boat is just about being on the open sea.

We need to post that overhead map of Gotham to show all the canals running within the city and Arkham being in the Narrows and on an island again.......

I trust Nolan completely with this franchise. But, please, not the Tumbler. I'm sure he'll get an even cooler set of wheels but I love the Tumbler. I had a chance to see it in person in LA and it's just an awesome piece of machinery.

I'm sure the sequence and it's importance to the story and the character will be great but I'm a tad sad to here this news.

All I can hope for is a modified Tumbler after the old one blows up....

It's just a tank. No need to get personally attached to it like that.

Blow it up to kingdom come, Nolan! Make it look spectactular.

guys didnt those scripts pages also saying how batman says they need to make adjustments to the costume??????which aint it cool is reporting?????

Mmm, considering the source, I'm not willing to take that entirely seriously just yet. But hey, news is news.

EDIT: Oh, I know what you mean now. Nah, that wasn't in the script pages.

Damn, Batman's always getting his ride blown up/destroyed in these movies. Hopefully this time it'll be a little more badass.

This is Gotham, not Venice, Italy. A couple of rivers flowing through at best. How is a boat a practical replacement for a land vehicle when Batman does all his work on land? What will he use to give chase, rollerblades? Its one of those things that barely works as a supplement vehicle without a film contrivance.

If you look at the Gotham map, which I'll try to post, it has quite a few rivers flowing through it, not to mention it has a huge coastline.

I never said for a boat to totally REPLACE the Tumbler - I just think out of all the secondary vehicles he could use, a boat makes the most sense to me.
