I suppose some people are gonna love to see the car blow up, I had my problems with the design, but seeing that badass machine on the screen won me over. I hope they don´t replace this original and amazing work of craft with a car just like the other ones just to appease fanboys.

Exactly, Chicago would be perfect to shoot a scene that requires a boat.

Hopefully we see a boat or a modified Tumbler later in the film after The Joker destroys it.

Nice find Miranda.
The same thing happend to the Batmobile in Batman Returns and Forever. It's a great way to introduce another vehicle and gadgets.The Tumbler is simply not enough for Batman to fight his war on crime.

I am soooooooooooooo with you on that one. If the tumbler was gonna get blown up, it shoulda been in another movie. Like Bats 3 or 4, and it should hve a total "oh man, not the batmobile" moment to it.

If anything, theres nothing wrong with selling more toys, just give the tumbler some new weapons/gadgets/abilites. Example - the batmissile from returns. It was a new batmobile toy that transformed. And it could easily be fixed back to the original in the next or current movie.

Guhhhhhhh sooooo frustrating!

I don't think it has anything to do with selling toys. In fact they were planning on blowing up the Tumbler in the first movie!

The massive amounts of planning, work and dedication devoted to developing and executing the Batmobile earned it a special place in the filmmakers’ hearts. “For a long time there was actually going to be a moment at the end of the movie where we were going to destroy the Batmobile,” recalls producer Emma Thomas. “But in the end we just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it – the Batmobile had become like a character to us.”
