I'm just trying to figure out which is the majority here. I know that black rubber armor may not be everyone's ideal design, but I really think it's better than the tights.

Batman should be just a guy in tights. Of course he could have some padding but I like the idea that he's crazy enough to go without any real protection. And the tights look visually cooler when torn and shredded.

I think you missed out on a third option : a compromise between the two - an armored suit that looks like the comics suit. If you've seen the screenshots from the Arkham Asylum video game coming out next year, you'll see what I mean. That is what I'd like to see. Therefore, I'm not gonna vote in this poll.

Whoops. Just so you know, I accidentally voted
(for tights), didn't mean to. I still think a compromise between the two is better.

I purposely left out any third option as I feared it would slant the poll. I'm trying to find out what is preferred between the two.

I prefer the rubber armor version. i still think it looks good when torn, like when Bats tore of the cowl at the end of Returns.

Well, I told you why I didn't list that. It'd be a copout for those who are reluctant to pick one over the other, & just admit where their preferences lie.
Besides, 12 years ago when the Batman films were pretty much all we had, we hadn't seen a hero onscreen in tights in over a decade. At least now we've had SPider-Man & the FF, so there's a little more plausibility that spandex can work on film in some cases.

I didn't care for that move. However, we rarely see the rubber torn. We've seen plenty of torn spandex over the years.

Well then . if I can only choose between the two, I'll go with the way I voted. That is, the comics accurate tights. I want to see the character that I've followed for 45 yrs. brought to life as I know him. Don't get me wrong, I like the black armor, I just like the other a little more.

I started this poll largely b/c of something you said. I said that those who want him in tights are in the minority, which you said was an arrogant statement. I want to see if I'm right.

When talking about armors, do you really think it must look like the tights he wears in the comics? I think not, it´s not about fashion it´s about function!

EDIT: I voted armor

That's what I've figured. BTW, my word "arrogant" was bit strong, my apologies.
So, far, after about 14 votes looks like I am indeed in the minority.
In my defense , 14 votes is not a very large polling group. A more accurate poll would include a broader sample from among Bat-fans outside of the Hype as well.
(Throw me a lifesaver, I'm drownin' here!)

Armor works for the movies.

Tights work for the Cartoons/Comics.

You know a lot of writers put armor underneath the tights in the comics.
And WB seems to agree with you overall.

Id go with tights, I dont mind the armor look so much, and of course it's more of a realistic approach and logical and all, but I am a fan of the black and gray tights and I think it could very much work fine in film, as presented in the fan films "Batman Dead End" and the "Superman Batman" trailer. I think the costuming looks fantastic, actually.

I don't agree that it looks fantastic.

It looks alright for what it was, but I'd expect a lot better from a big-budget Hollywood feature.

And I just watched the "World's Finest" trailer-it was cheesy as hell!

he should looks like a taller version of keaton in batman returns. perfect blend of rubber and armour with perfect cowl. the restricted head movement is actually quite cool for the character, gives him more presence...

I have no problem rubber suits in movies.
