Battlefield 3

BF3 is the FPS that finally get's me back into FPS's...I've hated all the FPS's that have come out in the past few years. The last one I played religiously was BF2 on the PC.

Yea Bad Company 2 took me off all other shooters. I pretty much exclusively stick to that one online. Can not wait for BF3

I started with 1942, had a blast, could not believe it was free. Did alot of Vietnam, but stopped after I had my fill. Played some Bad Company, got turned off by it a bit since it was so different from what I've played. Played BC2 and thought it wad good, but only bought it because of the Vietnam dlc. Now I'm waiting for the real deal Battlefield game to come to the console for the first time. I gotta say I was not impressed with the stories and characters of Bad Company. Haggard just needed to die, so did that guy who wore the glasses.

I actually liked the characters from Bad Company, but that's just me. I'd like to see them return in the future. I still have my voucher for a free download of 1942, I should probably stop being lazy and download it. Ha.

Still, BC2 is some of the best online on Live I've ever played. If anybody still plays hit me up!

I don't care about any of the SP from BF. That'll be the same when BF3 comes out, it's all about that MP

Bad Company 2 single player kinda reminded me of the cuteness of Portal if it wasn't cute and wasn't very good.
In general it just felt like a tacked on for the sake of it, money that could have to charity, peice of crap. Played like COD SP, boring.

I thought it was worse than anything CoD has done. The only reason i even finished the SP was there was some down time with their servers and i used that time to beat it.

I didn't think the campaign was that bad, I just thought it shoulda been co-op. you've got a squad of 4 different characters who are largely together most of the time, co-op would have made that thing a blast.

There were some cool levels too, I loved the freedom you got in some of the vehicle levels. They were basically free roam.

is 30fps what BC2 had?... if it is i dont see what all the bashing is about.
also, i thought 60fps was for 3d tvs only...??

i saw the side-by-side ps3 and pc comparisons and besides some clear shadow and global illumination differences they look identical.

i do agree with the comments that said vehicles are often death traps... i only use the humvee to drive half way to my destination then jump off because i know i wouldn make it there alive. sometimes i just walk the whole distance because cars are just open targets waiting to explode. And i hate when people jump into my (soon to explode) car because i sorta feel responsible for their lives lol

the tanks however are hard enough to kill though... and im hoping theres some sort of class that could combat air vehicles

the vehicles should only heal if the engineer is in it though... its annoying to have to get outta the tank, run to a side thats not getting shot up, and pray ur partner doesnt run you over by accident while repairing.

I dunno, I think doing manual repairs makes it a lot more interesting, exciting, varied and balanced. You actually need to communicate and use teamwork, it's not just some BS Call of Duty style perk, or passive ability. Also, it would make Helicopters way too overpowered because they wouldn't have to land or anything to repair themselves.

maybe manual repairs could be alot faster than self-repairing...thus the need to still use manual repair

helicopters shouldnt be repairable period... lol

I'm A-OK with BF3 running at 30 FPS, considering that I was just quite content with BC2 on both of my consoles. No biggie as much as I wish I had a comparable PC rig.

I actually think with the right strategy, tanks are easy to take out. Especially with an engineer or at least a class with C4. I've destroyed plenty a tanks with the power drill. :awesome: I also use to be extremely capable with the tank to the point where I could just hop in and blow up an approaching enemy chopper in just one shot. Good times were a had.

Wait, the repair tool does damage to enemy tanks? How does that work?

Let me rephrase that... How does that make sense? You undo a few nuts and bolts and make the tank explode?

It sounds absurd but yes, that's essentially how it works. I was pretty surprised myself when I first found out. Even though we'll never meet and I'm fairly new, you have to trust me on this. It's a neat little tactic and should help you out buddy.

Forget it Nong, it's Chinatown

Don't worry, I trust you lol

i have two pc's more than capable of running bf3 at its maximum potential but im still getting it for 360.... i just like playing it on there more for some reason. I have played bf2 on my pc and had plenty of fun too tho.

and i had no idea a drill hurts a tank... lol i was never that desperate to attempt it

Yeah, I know you can kill people with them, and that makes sense. You put a power drill in a guys head in real life, it's a safe bet that he'll probably die. You take a power drill to a tank, I'm pretty sure it's not going to explode.

I think the explanation is that it's not real life, maybe? There's not really much reason to try and pick at that kind of stuff just because it doesn't line up so much with 'real life', otherwise you can easily pick the entire thing apart piece by piece.

BC2 SP is way worse than the CODs. If you like console FPS's, the COD SP campaigns are really not that bad & there is a clear difference between BC2 & Black Ops or either of the Modern Warfares. Multiplayer though is where Battlefield offers something different to the rest of the market. Also SP in BF3 looks 100 times better!

Had it been with a drill bit you could stab into people, then I could understand it... This is has a flat bit at the end of it.:o

Well you can repair an entire tank while only "drilling" at the tracks, so how does that make any more sense? I look at it as the tool removes the bolts from the tracks causing the tank to be immobile, and useless, so it explodes letting the players know that.

Being able to use my repair tool on a heli in mid-air was helpful, but it was tricky gettin it to work everytime. Now I know that might make some pilots invincible, but I thought that if they still had to rearm at a base, they would not be such beasts. As it is, most choppers can be taken down by a number of methods and they take damage more easily and more quickly than most vehicles. So being able to repair in flight can be necessary, but not realistic.
