You should. It's a great game with CONSTANT updates, great humor, strong fanbase, tons of items, and terrific servers. Really a great game.

Not a fan of the games visuals. Really dont care to try to get into the game.

It's been hacked to hell too. That's also something to keep in mind.

Pre-order tat

I'v been playing the Red Orchestra 2 beta for the past few days and I have to say, i'm enjoying it alot more than I did with the BF3 Alpha. I'm sure i'll be enjoyed both though and it's great to see a whole bunch of team games come out this year.

No killing civilians

Personally, I would have liked something like Arma 2 in the single player were you had mild RPG elements communicating with the local populous (which the armed forces do as opposed to just shooting people all day). I'm sure it would be more interesting than wack-a-mole gameplay aside from being more authentic, it could have branching paths creating decisions that would give a more meaningful and diverse single player than just a throw-away training session for MP.

Another thing that would be nice is a blind fire mode and the ability to change iron-sights with scopes. Changing scopes has a pretty big effect on how you play because of the second or two it takes to change from one to the other with a long/short advantage depending on what is used.

Come to think of it, removing the third person view from vehicals (specifically tanks) would remove a huge 360 degree line of sight. Probably be alot fairer and difficult to mow down nimble infintry. I bet when most people play with the tank and get damage or see muzzles flashing the first thing people do is tap a button to go to third person then back to first person it seems kinda abit of a lame cheat.

I agree. I don't think there should be an option for a 3rd person view.

Another cool thing I found out about today in the Red Orchestra 2 beta, instead of the tank being a big hitbox like Battlefield the tanks have varous hit points. if you hit the nose hard enough it looses it primarily fire, if you hit the side or back you do more damage, if you hit the tracks it will slow down or be unable to move. If you hit the engine hard enough the tank will blow up completely.

The other thing as well, because your stuck in first person and not having a full 360 degree line of site as you would with third person, to actually get a good view of the outside you either have to open up the front hatch or lift your head out of the tank bob for a full view, leaving you open to getting shot by classes who aren't specifically anti-tank.

I like that even though it's not a simulator you move around inside the tank, it's alot more immersive. The E3 showing of Battlefield 3 seemed to show quite abit of this in the single player, showing other crew members reloading but this wasn't in the alpha build. It was pretty much in/out with instant swapping of area's like the other Battlefield games so I would guess that was a specifically scripted sequence.

I was reading this up as well which isn't in the beta but seems like an intesting game mode. Outside of the actual multiplayer maps you have an over-view map (like civilization or Total War) and players vote to defend or attack maps and attempt to take over the entire region by fighting in map in a grand campaign with each multiplayer map representing a region. This could end up crap but the idea itself is cool.

Hard to see much, the video quality blows.

The sound is so damn impressive tho.

Still wish the ammo counter was done by the magazine, not by the round. Most soldiers dont keep track of their individual rounds.

When developers only show one particular platform and then months before release a unflattering video or build gets leaked its kinda hard to feel sympathy.

The Xbox 360 version looks great.

Jets single player gameplay

Beta.

WOW.

That looks and sounds better than some flight titles. Thats incredible.(Altho i dont know a human that can turn their head 180 degrees to look behind them)

I really hope the jets are difficult to control. Everyone shouldn't be able to just jump in a jet and start causing havoc. You need to know what you are doing.

It kinda looks like an on-the-rails section. I notice as well it's using the old "you need the character to open this door to progress, watch this scripted sequence" thing as well.

I still much prefer that to a loading screen.

Well, they are kind of advertising it as this big next generation type game.
But when you look at it, it's 1999 stuff Call Of Duty has been repeating year in year out. I'm sure the multiplayer will be great but at the moment the single player just looks like, dare I say it, a Call Of Duty clone.

Yeah man, you know what? Batman Arkham Asylum, Gears of War, Dead Island etc, ALL those games are clones of Call of Duty because they use the same game loading technique....
