Battlefield 3

Call Of Duty is a casual shooter that offers peanuts. Just run around shooter people and play the unlock stuff. Very similar to an MMO and not very skill based. Battefield is more of a skill based game that involves a certain level of thinking and patience, no doubt about that. For that reason alone it's probably never going to outsell it. So I wish EA would just shut up about Call Of Duty and make there own game. You wont outsell it, the end.

Also I recall seeing tons of youtube videos of players falling through maps, exploiting clipping issues and so on for Call Of Duty maps.
They aren't even rapidly fixed. In fact I beleive on the PS3 there is a problem with cheaters that will probably never get fixed.

EA's trying to create it's own elitist fanboys & it's been working. I think they've succeeded with that.

Late October/November is going to be really fun. I'll get to see the fanboys rip each other's throats out, while I have fun playing both games! :D

I couldnt imagine playing both games. It would be like going from filet mignon in BF3 to left over rump roast in CoD.

In all honesty tho, I think CoD will be a good title, Im just bored of the gameplay

After playing Gears 3. Neither of them look like much fun anymore

I dunno, in my mind Gears for me replaces Halo and COD and Battlefield still stands alone... I enjoy two things in shooters, either a really fun, bad ass simulator with sci-fi or fantasy elements, or something that is just a fun, arcadey shooter, or i enjoy something super realistic, that involves real strategy and team work... To me, Gears replaces Halo and COD for that sort of arcedy shooter, but Battlefield will still fill the fun, real strategy side of things.

Gears is far more strategy based than CoD and Halo. You can't be successful in that game playing as a lone wolf, you'll get run over every time by a good team. You can always tell the group of 5 that aren't playing as a unit, because generally they're the ones on the losing end of a beat down. I deff wouldn't put Gears in the arcade shooter category with CoD or Halo.

Not saying it doesn't require strategy, I mean both Halo and COD still require strategy, but I'd say they're still arcadey shooters, which isn't a bad thing.... To me, that just means they prioritise fun for the player of hyper realism. In a game where you can completely obliterate an enemy with a shotgun, blowing them into pieces or you can chainsaw them in half, I'd say that's more an arcade shooter. What's wrong with that? It doesn't take anything away from it.

Played both this weekend, really disappointed with mw3 the game looks and feels like MW2 dlc the animations are really old. BF3 was epic and can't wait to get back to the beta next week. EA even made us custom BF3 dog tags with our gamer tags and names on for free.

Edit it was at euro gamer

Nothing is wrong with that, but i still wouldn't classify it as an arcade shooter, at least not if you are putting Halo and CoD in that category. Gears couldn't be any further from those 2 games. Both Halo and CoD rely far less on team work. Due to the 5 v 5 nature, Gears is much more dependent on team work. Rarely will your team win if you aren't playing well together. Its very hard for one individual to carry a team, unlike in CoD or Halo. Gears is also far more unforgiving online. Rarely do unskilled players come out on top, thats again not the case in CoD and Halo with its reliance on twitch shooting.

Cool trailer. Cant wait for the Beta.

Also love the "Above and Beyond the Call" tagline at the end.

I'm classifying all of them as arcade shooters, but it has nothing to do with how easy they are or whether teamwork or strategy is required, more just the level of fun. I would say they are all games where the emphasis is put on how fun something should be... I mean, Cliffy B has admitted as much with things like Bayonet charge, all the executions, stuff like that. It's things like that, or killstreaks in COD, or the arcedy playlists in Halo games, that make them arcade shooters to me. Compared to the stark reality of Battlefield which I wouldn't classify an arcade shooter.

Ah yea i got ya. Still wouldn't put Gears in a category with Halo or CoD. Its deff a level above those two, no matter how you slice it.

Every new trailer for this game makes me giddy with anticipation.

Just got an early access code from work. Should be able to dl it come midnight

I believe it'll be on the dashboard, open to all. A a pretty crazy notion, right? Gah, can't wait.

Yea it'll be open come Thursday but there were some ways you could get early access(purchasing MoH for example). I got a code from work and have been playing for the last hour or so. Its just as jaw dropping as i thought it was going to be. I was able to jump right in with no worries as the game plays just like BC2. Operation Metro is pretty bad ass map to. Starts out with an awesome firefight in an open park before moving under ground then back outside. The sound design in this game is unmatched. I also love how when you vault cover, you can see your characters legs. Small things like that go a long way. Needless to say its going to be a LONG want until the 25th. I really can't wait.

I just got my beta invite... So, I'm downloading it now. So effin' excited!

Playing the Beta reminds me how much i love hardcore modes. I can not stand emptying an entire round into someone before they go down.

The enviroment textures look alot better than they did in the alpha. Nice and sharp. Apparently they will be sharper in the final version.
I think the multiplayer character models still look like they could be abit better. Kinda dissapointed they don't have facial animations like TF2.

Man, that is stunning. I can't wait to fly the jets but at the same time i DREAD the communities reaction to them. Watching people fight over planes in 1943 was bad, i can only imagine how bad it will be here.

The sounds are just incredible though. Cant get over that.
