That was the best part of the whole movie to me :woot: It is cheesy and dumb as hell. But in the context of the movie, and well, probably because at that time I didnt care anymore, I had aldready said "f*** it movie do what you want". So that part became easily the highlight. Its so wrong and bad that it becomes downright awesome :awesome:

yeah i mean after one minute i got used to it .. but when it happened a big moan went through the theater..

and they get these action-angles, shot from below... or they walk in a row to the camera.. :D

well it looks like this wont flop
Despite a mixed reaction from critics, Battleship has opened up impressively overseas over a month before it's released in the US on May 18th. With a reported budget of $209 million (some analysts believe it to actually be closer to $250 million) the studio should be feeling confident after it hit the #1 spot in nearly every single country it was released in this past Wednesday. Based on how it is currently performing, the Peter Berg hemled flick is expected to bring in over $300 million from foreign box office receipts. While there are some concerns that it will under-perform when it is finally released in the states, it now seems as if what it makes overseas (it was released today in an additional 26 territories, taking it to 40 in total) will be more than enough to make it a hit for Universal.

In Australia, Battleship took $1.1M on Wednesday (the same as Iron Man and Thor and twice as much as John Carter). In Korea, sources indicate that it is "dominating the box office with Korea leading the pack." An impressive $2.8M actually made it the biggest opening for an English language non-sequel ever there. In the UK, it grossed $1.5M on Wednesday, no doubt helped by the fact that the kids are off school for an Easter break. Previews for Thor last year took £730K in comparison. Over in France, it opened with $870K and made $132K in Belgium.

The Asians love ship battle films, especially when Asian cities are featured.

I saw the movie earlier today, it was actually pretty entertaining if you don't mind a few things being unrealistic.

Liked the aliens for the most part, unlike most other alien invaders these actually wore pants :)

Well, they can't gripe about how us moronic Americans made this one a box office smash.

almost no sci fi films are entirely plausible.

That is definitely a nice change for us. This time the International viewers are to blame

I wouldn't be so quick to judge this move by all the bad press, every day I see a review for the film giving it an enormous star!

lets wait till it comes out in the states before we say that:cwink:

but overseas viewers also made 2012 a box office success

since 2012 made 166 million in US but 769 million overseas lol

Saw this today & I personally loved it. I doubt it will bring in any Oscars for anything other than maybe visual effects, so if your expecting a deep story with tear jerking performances this isn't gonna be pushing your buttons.

Basically if you've seen the trailer, you more or less know what the plot of the film is, humanoid aliens in Halo like suits invade Earth. It's pretty much that simple. If you liked Independence Day, Battle: Los Angeles etc your pretty much a given to like this as it's very similar formula however what makes this one different from the other two mentioned in particular is that rather than the 'battles' taking place in the air or by infantry, the main bulk of the fighting is done at sea. The movie is loosely tied into the game & there is a large scene when they have to use a Battleship like grid to try & take out some of the Alien's ships.

I quite like the Aliens given that for once they aren't big headed with tentacles coming out the top of their fat heads.. they basically are humanoids, quite similar to us with a few modifications here & there.

This has everything you'd expect from a summer blockbuster & it's been one of the few in recent years I've actually enjoyed watching... this will definatly be getting added to my dvd collection when it's released.

I'm with my sister, the bad reviews are actually making me interested in seeing the film.

I'd see the movie if it has Liam Neeson actually yelling "YOU'VE SUNK MY BATTLESHIP" at some point.

I rarely pay any attention to other peoples movie reviews. The whole 'credible movie critic' thing I find to be a joke, the only persons opinion that really matters when I'm watching a film is my own & as far as I am concerned everyone else is wrong, fact.

That being said I do glance at the papers movie critic from time to time just to see what he says about films I am going to see.. however even if he said the film was garbage, I'd still go see it if I was originally planning to anyway. His opinion wouldn't sway me.

Eh, Battleship is going to be terrible but the bad reviews make me think that it's going to be terrible in a funny way.

is this the film the critics will gang up on this summer?
there's always one.

funny how people dont see how movie like this do well lol

the general audience consists of people who work 6 days a week and just want to have fun and escape their every day lives and just enjoy themselves at the movies

apparently the GA should be a bunch of stuffy rich people with monocles and drinking tea during movies

I think the ones that have time to complain about fluff in entertainment either don't work straight 9 to 5's or have no other responsibilities.

No, they should be given decent films to watch.

you are under the impression they dont enjoy films like this

becuase they do

What exactly do people expect from a film based on a freaking pencil and paper game?

This film should be hilariously bad.

No, they should be given decent films to watch.

shouldn't people be given a wide variety of films to watch and let them judge what is good for themselves

We should be getting quality films for people to judge. Battleship looks anything but.
