Wow...there really should be a better focus on submissions. Even some of that top 10 had lame submissions...Chris Masters probably missed the list by a few votes...

submissions rarely get a guy over tho

most wrestlers have what i call the 1 hit move - RKO,GTS,AA,Pedigree,Spear, etc. a move you can hit anytime and once you hit it , it's over

True...it's nice for a guy to have one though as leads to a potential end to the match without hitting the 1 hit move...

thats what makes cena and punk different they both got 1 hit moves and submission finishers - **** and Anaconda Vice

When I think of submission specialists I think of a wrestler that has more than one hold, Ric Flair is not a submission specialist.

Almost all of his pre-MDM days are overshadowed because his gimmick as the Million Dollar Man was so over the top and memorable. His character was the perfect foil at the time, either in the midcard or in the main event. He had the talent, and that combined with his ability to get fans to hate him so and his flaunting of his money made him the perfect character for the time.

You forget that he worked as a face at one point in his career because his days as a heel were just so great.

Rude should have a dvd as well. His feud with Warrior, making seem a competent wrestler that he wasn't, is worth putting on dvd alone.

The Million Dollar Man gimmick was one of the very best ever created and I think Dibiase was one of the top 5 heels of the 80's in the WWF, what is interesting though is that Vince saw him as that character despite him working as a face at the time.

I think Rude's match with Warrior at Summerlsam 89 was the greatest big match carry job of all time, just amazing!

i gave my cousin one and he no sold it

You're related to Cena?

....im watching some of the nxt season 3 divas in FCW...and I wouldnt mind seeing Naomi, Maxine, AJ, and even Aksana on the main roster at some point.

Has anyone here actually been crippler crossfaced??

That submission move is painful as hell and oh so funny to see actually happening in front of your own eyes. I remember back when I was at school, some kid was shooting his mouth on and another guy just came out of nowhere and crippler crossfaced him, it was so random, hilarious and shocking at the same time.

The cripper crossface seriously sounds both painful and hilarious at the same time. I bet it hurts just like a Sharpshooter really hurts, but the crossface looks hilarious. Could you imagine going up to somebody and saying "Yo, if you don't shut up, I'm gonna cripper crossface you."

haven't been on the cpu for a few days

one of my favourite threads on the hype and look forward to talk more wrestling with you all in the new year :yay:

-- WWE posted a video on YouTube ranking the top 10 greatest WWE submission Superstars of all time. The ranking is as follows:

10. Tazz

9. William Regal

8. Sgt. Slaughter

7. Daniel Bryan

6. Dean Malenko

5. Chris Jericho

4. Ric Flair

3. Bob Backlund

2. Kurt Angle

1. Bret Hart

Daniel Bryan criticized Flair's Figure Four finishing maneuver by saying he didn't win a lot of matches with it and therefore wouldn't rate at the top.

Flair isn't on the list because of the Figure Four. Flair is on the list because he's Ric Flair. Simple as that.

Interesting to note in in WCW Rude's role with the NWO was to accompany Curt Henning to the ring, Hennig was of course Rude's successor as Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan's Intercontinental Champion in the Heenan Family, and they were probably the 2 greatest talents Bobby managed.

I even more interesting since those two guys were best friends. Its a shame they both got hurt when they did. So much more they could have done. I'd have loved to have seen them wrestle each other at some point. Or team together and go after the tag team titles.

I think The MDM gimmick was arguably one of the best to come out of the 80's and along with Undertaker one of the most successfully executed gimmicks Vince ever created.

MDM embodied the 80's and was probably a little wish fulfillment on Vince's part. Looking at the greed in the world today the MDM gimmick is still relivant.

Speaking of epic moments in wrestling:

You mean the mysterious figure who was with Eddie at WM XX?

I remember when he also plagued Capt Archer and the Enterprise

I said this before and I'll say it again, Ric Flair is one of the most over-rated wrestlers of all time.
