Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

You guys are all too kind.:)
A bit about the chest logo..
The chest as you see it needs to be molded again. Just before I do so I will add the bat onto the chest so that in the final mold it is present.
Once in the final mold, then each casting that comes out from the mold will have the bat on the chest permanently.

For the opening day, when in costume I will definately have the black eye make up on.
Cant be a movie suit if there's no make up...:)

David,

I'm curious as to how much it would cost to have someone make - not a Batman costume - but something original with as much detail and work as you put into this one.

If I was to price this suit I'm making it would be off the scale because of the time I've taken on it. Again, it's for me so time is not a factor and it's done on evenings mostly.

If you have an idea of something you'd like to see done just PM me and we'll talk about it.
Keep in mind that I'm pretty well booked solid until January 2006..... man it hurts when I say that out loud.....!!!!!

That's good news, though...isn't it David?

Business wise it's great news.....but ask my wife how she feels about me being so busy... regular hours dont pertain to this line of work...neither do evenings or weekends....but it's all good. As long as I have the drive to do so I will continue to push myself forward. :)

More than $10,000 to make a suit like that or less...? Just wanted to say that suit you have made is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in my life.

I agree. You are truly building a fantasy.

That's exactly how I see it....to me this is all a fantasy come true. I love what I do and feel like a little kid come Christmas everytime a project is complete.

This Begins suit is for me a whole lot of emotions all mixed into one and will most certainly be thrilled to see it all done.

David, you should really try to go to the San Diego comic-con this year. Im going, and i was just looking at the masquerade section of the site and DC gives out $300 to the person who best portrays one of their characters and groups of comic book shops in San Diego give out $150 if they choose ur costume as their favorite. u would easily be a shoe-in for both in my opinion. im sure u wouldn't go, cuz that costs a lot, but just thought it was a cool idea, cuz im sure ud win.

Actually, I was planning to come to SDCC this year but unfortunately I am moving at the end of June and I just wont have the material time to prepair for SDCC.
Still, I'm sure that a few of my suits will be there none the less..:)
I go every year to DragonCon in Atlanta GA and SDCC is next on my list of Cons.

David

whats a con mate is i'm from england and can't see your costumes in person!

Con = Convention. Get togethers for dealers and costumers alike.

DragonCon is in Atlanta Ga, SanDiegoComicCon is in SD California and so on...

Retailers have boots to sell comic related items and the rest of us geeks:) dress up in costume for the parades or just walk around and take pics with the fans alike while in costume.
My first year at DC I dressed up in a full latex muscle suit of the Comic version of Wolverine...It took me almost 2 hours to cross the street from one hotel to the other because of the fans taking pics with me.
It really is a lot of fun and the few times where you're surrounded by thousands of people who truly 'get' this whole world of ours.

David

That's too bad u can't go, u really would have awed ppl with that costume.

Bump... was on the 4th page.... Are you nearing completion?... have you even started on the gauntlets (they look easily made) I can't make it up to Toronto but can you come down to good ol' Deep South.... Dixie Land.... CenLa.... Central Louisiana.... that would be great. :gg:

Was doing some website work and decided to have a little bit of fun with my coffee..

This is for those that cant wait to see what David will look like in the suit.

hahahahahahah!!!

That is just tooo funny.
LOL
I love stuff like that!!!!

Guys....when you see what I've done with this you'll be quite impressed...I hope!
I've teamed up with a friend of mine...Badlove...the guy who sculpted that Cobra Commander hood in one of the pics above. He's doing some of the accessories for this suit seeing as time is running out and I am just one guy. I think together we'll pull it off nicely and with some luck you'll all agree!!!

Down to the wire....when you see pics of my cowl you wont believe how different it is from the last pics I posted.

David

Hey DAVID... out of curiosity. When you finally get this thing done and put on... are you gonna shave to get that final affect?

Just curious :)

LOL!
It's not that....I just want to post finished pics next.

Seeing as the art book from Begins showed us a really cool side shot...what the heck...here's what mine looked like a few weeks ago....

The back of the head and the tip of the neck have since been corrected but I dont think I have just a side profile showing just that as a work in progress...the finished cast cowl pics are coming though....

Let me know what you guys think overall from this pic.....keeping in mind the back was already modified as were some slight areas on the face.

I've been documenting all stages of this suit in the sculpted form...I've got hundreds of pics to go through when looking to post something up so I'll see if infact I do find a more completed profile pic to post.

David

David, That's an amazing sculpt man, are you the guy they asked to design the batman suit in the first place? lol, but really, the detail you put into these things astounds me, I'm amazed at the level of accuracy you can portray into the sculpting. Being someone who loves art myself, the small detail things are the points of my work that always drive me crazy if I can't get it just perfect, and I doubt I would be able to find the parts where you're sculpt doesn't match the original cowl design unless I had the original cowl in my hand and looked over your sculpt with a microscope. Great work!!!

you amaze me david..

only one thing i hate...you won't make me a cowl!

;)
