Hmm. let's see:
Batman 89: dark= sucess.
Batman Returns darker = sucess
Batman Forever campy/light = sucess but crappy movie.
Batman and Robin total campy = fail a crappy movie
Batman Begins dark = sucess
Batman 2 darker = ?? more money??
Are you serious?
Where did I say I wanted the film to be light and campy?
Batman 1989 = Absolute success. Critically and comercially. Comercially it was the most hyped, and made the most money. It was dark, the perfect amount of dark and seriousness, but was also EXTREMELY fun adn entertaining to watch.
Batman Returns = Pretty good film, did not do well commercially, and critically didn't even get that much praise. Was the absolute darkest, and made the second to worst in profits. One again, no balance. No mix of fun and entertainment, WITH a dark story.
Batman Forever= Absolute Success. 3rd highest grossing of the series, while dark yet leaned more towards being a lighter film, and knocked the socks of Returns in terms of total gross.
Batman and Robin: No one is even remotely saying that we are going down that route...
Batman Begins = Absolute success. Came out having to fight a bad rep, and still managed to become the second most successful Batman film. Was dark, just like 89, but balanced it with fun and relevance with the modern audience and WASN'T trying to be hip. JUST like B89.
