The Dark Knight BOF News: Begins Sequel to be "Darker"

Sounds good to me! A darker film sounds okay by me...I just hope we can see the fight scenes a little clearer in the sequel however. I like hearing that "they" or Nolan is going over and reviewing some comics....to make sure they get certain important elements in the sequel. Good stuff! I trust Nolan and company whoever he picks for Joker.....and Dent...just as long as it is not Lucas. I'm still clamoring to find out if Talia will make an appearance in small....yet mysterious role! Ahhhhhhhh! lol..

Absolutely great news.

Batman Begins needs alittle more "DARK". I find the character needs a much more brooding side to him, much like Frank Miller's Batman. Hopefully they will switch up the color schematics as well, in favor of a darker "Underworld" look.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if we got and R rated Batman movie eventually. It would be a mild R...like Constantine for instance. Kinda like how Revenge of the Sith was PG13 when all of the other SW movies were PG.

Oh...how much i have wished for an R rated Batman film....but it will never happen...unless it was a DKR interpretation. I just hope, that by saying the film will be "darker" ...that doesn't mean it will be harder to see in the theater....i hope it means there will be more of an "edge" to it...lets just say. With Joker being involved and Dent being introduced....then it would seem kinda hard not to have a darker and more edgier sequel.

yeah....i want to see Batman inflicting more physical pain to his enemies.....more broken bones...more screeching in pain from the criminals he hurts physically. I want to see a bit more intensity.....ala Tarantino style from Kill Bill. Not necessarily more blood....but more emotion of the pain that Batman inflicts on his opponents.

LMAO, come on, that's fanboy wish forfillment. Studio's don't give a s*** about anything except the bottom line. If comicbook movies are popular, they'll make comicbook movies. If faithful comicbook movies are popular, they'll make faithful comicbook movies. If they think they can make money with Catwoman or Batman & Robin, they'll do that.
I think they meant the studio´s not trying to do another Spider-Man, and that´s the right approach. If you want to make money with Batman, you gotta know that he´s popular for a different audience, that wants something darker.

This sounds too good to be true, but maybe the people in charge actually learned that people are capable of appreciating more than simple popcorn entertainment. Maybe the right people are in charge? You know, people like us.

If the next film ventured into R territory I wouldn't mind it. At least they could show some blood this time around. If they're straying away a bit from "blockbuster material" that hopefully means that we'll get more mystery, more detective work, and develop characters more.

Wow, even darker than "Nice Coat" "Does it come in black?" lol. Relax guys, "even" darker for Batman Begins is no reason to worry just yet.

Batman will never be rated R, it cuts out too much of the fan base (younger children)

I know.
I just meant that saying it once is worse than making the Batman Begins sequel R because of Two-Face's scars.

Ahh I gotcha. And yeah, I agree with that. The scars themselves shouldn't be too bad, unless they show him getting scarred in too graphic a manner.

Exactly. :)

"Your anger gives you great power.....but if you let it.....it will destroy you....as it almost did me." Neeson as Ra's was classic!

personally i want Nolan to make this film darker and edgier....with a bit more blood shown.....doesn't have to be whole lot to make it an R....just as long as there is no nudity and not a crap load of cussing. Loeb said ******* once in Begins and hearing a swear word once or twice in a PG-13 film is okay IMO.....

Wow. The first one was already a bit dark. Nolan + Dark = Good

Why to worry? It started dark in 1939 and in 1989.
He has a point...

As for 89, though, it was fundamentally cartoony from the start...as are most of Burton's films, which is what lead to Schumacher's Folly.
