OK everyone keeps saying that this is the last movie for X-Men. But I have noticed there are a few things wrong with that.

1)As long as this movie makes money, let's face it, they will make more. Hollywood=money

2)I dont know why it took me so long to notice this, but most of the people who say this is the last movie dont say just that. They say it's the last movie "of the trilogy". Well no freakin duh. The last movie of a trilogy is, most of the time, the third movie. So of course X-Men 3 is the last in the trilogy cause its the third movie. They have just been running the hype machine ragged with "last movie" and what not. Of course I may have just been the last person to notice and I'm slow and dumb. I'm not sure if there is a thread for this, I didn't see one, but if there is Mods please delete. Lemme know what yall think.

it would be a shame if fox didnt use more x-men stories. i mean with the amount of x-men stories there are, the number of movies would be hard to predict. that is unless EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE gets tired of seeing the x-men on screen

I think the smartest thing for Marvel to do is stop it here...and in a few years do a restart doing an even better X film.If they keep doing films people will get tired...this will not be good for Marvel in the future

I think after Superman, all comic book movies NEED to stop for a few years...

With
the number of deaths
a reboot might be the best idea. The only sad thing would be that we wouldn't see some of the actors who nailed their roles again.

No, I don't think they should do a reboot. I'd rather see nipples on the X-men suits. That would fix everything! :P

Seriously though, a reboot of X-men wouldn't work, until some time has passed.

It was what, 8 years between Batman and Robin, and Batman Begins?

People need time to recover.

Well, to answer "the third movie is the last of the trilogy, DUH" mentality...

If there was another movie, then it'd no longer be a trilogy, it'd be a quadrilogy.

These movies should stop here.

Even if they weren't originally written like this, this movie has been written as the last film. The overall storyline over the span of 3 movies has had it's introduction (X-Men), rise in conflict (X2), and the climax / resolution (X-Men 3). That's basic storytelling... the storytelling process is over with. There's nothing left to tell. From the comics? Yes. But for the movies? No.

And lastly, after the respect this film was given (killing off of Cyclops and Xavier, no Gambit, etc...), I dunno if I want a 4th one.

Look, let's face it... Fox didn't really get the best creative team behind this one. There's been much complaint about Ratner, Kinberg, and Penn from the get go. And look at the respect they gave us... a crappy version of the Phoenix story that kills off Cyclops as it's first act.

Do you seriously thing, that an X-Men 4, which will be made PURELY for money (this was made for money, yes, but had a storyline, creative purpose, to continue, with seeds planted for the Phoenix Saga, plus all the loose ends of the impending war between mutants and humans), Fox will actually take the time to find a talented creative team that's going to give us the best possible movie while remaining loyal to the source material? Or do you think they are gonna do even worse than they did this time around, a bunch of yes-man directors and script writers who will write the studio formulated film that they want?

When X-Men 4 gets made (if it does, and I hope it doesn't), it's going to be all the same complaints that X-Men: The Last Stand had, but 10-fold.

It is in the best interest of the franchise to quit now, while they are still somewhat ahead, and haven't TOTALLY bastardized the franchise.

Either way, if Fox wants another X-Men movie, they were stupid to give X3 the "Last Stand" title. I don't care if it 'ends the trilogy'. That's BS.

I think you are misunderstanding what I was trying to say. I really hope this is the last of this string of movies. I don't think they can go anywhere with this story (nowhere good at least). I was saying that they keep saying that this is like the last x-men movie period. I am actually hoping for a new series of x-men movies. I could have sworn I heard something about Marvel producing their own movies from now on, starting with I think Iron Man. So no more gay fox, Rothman, stuff like that. Is that true?

I actually doubt we will see an X4 for quiet some time. This film hasd gotten a considerable amount of bad press following it's release. The fanbase was irked by some of the decisions, but more importantly for anyone average film goer this is the last movie. It did not end like X2 with an ending that really made you care to see another. The only reason us fans are talking it up is because we know about the uptapped potential. Most folks never heard of Mr Sinister, Apocalypse and Gambit. With Cyclops and Xavier "dead", the cure (we'll say) "heavily protested", Magneto and Rogue "cured". I doubt average joe action movie lover really cares to see all that rolled back for an X4. So I think it will be quiet some time.

No, I think this really is the last movie as everything stands now. To hurry up and make a 4th just after this one made so much money this weekend will not make people happy.

The best thing to do is go into the spinoffs, see how they do...and if they do well, and there's a definite interest, bring on X4. People will be much more open to that than a "X4: The Actual Last Stand" or whatever they'd have to come up with.

X4: the New War. maybe.

However you're right. The spinoffs are the test for X4. X4 cannot have Magneto, bringing Cyclops back quickly is gonna get a lot of "WTFs" from general audiences. The new villian may not be well recieved because after three films they probably think Magneto is the only real badguy of the X-Men.

As I say we as fans think Apocalypse, Gambit, Mr Sinister, Mesmero, The Sentinels, Sauron, Stephen Lang, Inferno Saga, Days of the Future Past, Gambit, Banshee, Havok, Genosha. All wonderful ideas and storylines mind you, however to an average public they have never heard of any of these things let alone care to see them on film.

You could make an X4 movie, and follow the evolution of the X-men a lil further down the road. It won't get started til after the Magneto and Wolverine prequels so Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page Etc will be older and could be used as full time X-men members bring a lil more char development to them, and bring Angel and Jubilee like Iceman /Colussus/ Pyro were in X2.
As for villians.. mr.Sinister, Magneto All powered up again...perhaps lookin for his children on a sideline?
The comics have had 40 years to develop story lines its hard to make a movie series adapting them dead on. Some like Days of Future Pass and Age of Apocalypse would be very hard. But the Hellfire Club or Mr.Sinister could be new and refreshing

FOX will milk the series as long as they can, besides the trilogy talk is nothing more than a marketing ploy.
