Apocalypse Scoring Age of Apocalypse - The Soundtrack/Music Thread

The main (X2) theme now has a chorus.

The album is out on iTunes here in Aus. Just previewed them all. Brought chills to me just like they did in the movie when I watched it.

Debating whether to wait for the movie to listen to those for the first time! :waa:

The music didn't make as much of an impression but this usually happens the first time I watch a movie, the egyptian-esque music in the beggining was awesome though and I don't know what they did to the opening credits theme but it sounds even better than before. My favorite soundtracks of the franchise so far are the First Class score by Herny Jackman and the DOFP soundtrack.

[blackout]Part of me wanted the Phoenix theme from X3 in the final battle once Jean uses all her power.[/blackout]

I've definitely spoiled myself. Like discovering that, much like Xavier (DoFP), [blackout]Jean's[/blackout] theme plays during the main theme's end titles.

Me too! But what we got is great. It's in the same ballpark (sweeping orchestral music with chorus) but a lot more soothing and not as heavy, which is fitting for this movie. I could see them as being reasonably similar enough to be related to the same core idea.

Still disappointed Magneto's Theme from FC was not used. It was in DOFP but not in relation to Magneto at all. Sigh.

Ah that's my fault. So sorry! I didn't think that it would be considered a spoiler (no big plot points and all that). Ive blacked it out.

Man, do I really have to pay for Spotify to listen to this!? argh. Rather just pay for the actual album haha.

Never mind just signed up for the 99 cent trial, now lets see how this works....

The score in the Ancient Egypt scenes was GODLY.

But I pretty much did not notice it for the rest of the movie.

I actually liked what John Ottman did here (just watched the film two days ago) though I still prefer what he did in Days of Future Past a bit more, but just by a bit. Henry Jackman's take on Civil War sounds like cr*p (he ruined the movie) when compared to what John Ottman did for Apocalypse.

The "Hope" theme was used several times during the Cerebro parts of the film.

Aside from Tyler Bates' take on Guardians of the Galaxy (Which was AMAZING), I think John Ottman is almost on par with him, while Henry Jackman is WAY below the line down there.

Although I do commend Henry Jackman's take on X-Men: First Class, that's just it. The thing was, for Civil War, he literally had to put in a happy/ victorious theme (especially on the big airport action sequence) for every scene that someone beat someone. Just felt pathetic for me.

Haha, no worries. I discovered that from listening to bits of the score on Spotify.

Right, Jackman biffed it with Civil War. The music is so important to a film like that, and it actually brings it down. I could never say that Civil War is the "best comic book movie" simply because of the music. It's got to be working on all levels.

I LOVE Jackman otherwise, his work for First Class and more recently Uncharted 4 is fantastic.

I'm not sure if I can place the blame solely on Jackman for Civil War though....
