Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange

I think they're going for RDJ-esqueness for this role. Someone already established who will be in there for the long haul, and maybe not someone who may become the "it boy" and slack off the future films. Cumberbatch already knows this thing is gonna lock him in for a few more flicks and guest shots so he knows what he's getting into I assume.

Great news for Marvel today. After watching him in Sherlock and some of the movies he's been the last couple years, he's an excellent get by Marvel. I think enough people know who he is that he can possibly carry his own franchise.

Finally! Once I binge-watched Sherlock this fall, I was sold on this casting choice. Good to have confirmation, and I'm sure BC is relieved he won't have to keep dodging the question in every interview

Excellent casting; this guy is straight fire in Sherlock. I was on the Leto bandwagon initially, but I believe he's a much better fit as The Joker. We all win, as far I'm concerned.

I am really excited to see BC play the broken and lost Strange before he travels to the East. That stuff should just be gut wrenching and a side we rarely see of Cumberbatch. An arrogant man brought low who learns humility, an so opens himself up to the wonders of the supernatural world. Say what ever you want about the DTV but I feel it hit those aspects and his training with the Ancient One very well. The next two parts cast, Ancient One and Wong are key now, since they and Mordo, will probably share lots of screen time with BC's Strange.

Yeah my money's on that too. Marvel will undoubtedly save him for the sequels, but hint at him in the first instalment.

I think we get a glimpse, like Mordo is the main villain he beats at the climax, only for him to be like, "you think I did all this for my own benefit, Strange? We all answer to a....higher power."

I really don't want Mordo as the main antagonist. No more villainous equals to the protagonists...Especially with Thanos and his gauntlet incoming...Make the villain Dormammu with Mordo as his henchman.

Especially with no sequels incoming until 2020 at the earliest...Just give us the Dread Lord. Make him and Surtur visibly dwarf Thanos in power scale, thus justifying the Mad Titan's dash for the gems.

I'm glad to see this. I had hoped for him being cast for over a year.

Although I did think we should just continue with the title "Who is Doctor Strange." It's more mysterious that way.
