Ok, so I know I didn't finish my previous thread but life has gotten in the way and in truth there wasn't much interest from the forum,

So this is more concise and I'm going to do a sister thread for Bond villain cars. :D:

Straight forward concept, I listed every car that had an actual action sequence with Bond driving them, so no Z3 from Goldeneye or DBS from OHMSS.

The Lotus. I would have that at #1 including the DB5. It turns a sub! It is like something out of Inspector Gadget. It was a sad day when it blew up two films later.

I have to admit, i do have a soft spot for the Citroen. It reminds me of Lupin's classic yellow Fiat 500.

I wonder if it was a bit of a homage since For Your Eyes Only would have been filming shortly after the release of Castle of Cagliostro.

I really like the DB10 design, I think Aston made a mistake not making a production version, and I've always had a soft spot the V8 Vantage, but the Lotus Esprit was actually my first Bond car as I saw "The Spy who Loved Me" before Goldfinger as a kid and so it's my touchstone for the cool gadget laden Bond car.

Lotus Esprit because it can turn into a submarine.

Lotus Espirit. That is almost as iconic as the DB5 and Bond ought to have another Lotus again in a future film.

BMW 750 from Tomorrow Never Dies is another favorite of mine.

If Bond goes electric in the next one, the Lotus Evija awaits!

It's time Bond had a different car than the Aston Martin. As long as he doesn't bring back a BMW. They need to keep it British cars. A new Lotus is well overdue.

Also I don't know why he never had a Jaguar.

That wasn't the same car though but a different colour and model. And it was more like that BMW in Goldeneye in which it didn't do anything but was just there.

I think why they blew it up was symbolic, as if to say that they didn't need to rely on any gadgets or special cars. Then they gave Bond a Citroen 2CV to show he could still outrun the baddies even in a really low-tech, low performance car.

I'm surprised Bond hasn't used a McLaren yet.

Funnily enough two of the big villains henchmen have used gadget laden Jag's but I don't think a hot one has come along at the right time to coincide with a Bond movie. Had the XJ220 been a success it might have gotten picked as the Bond car for Goldeneye.

Why would it matter if the car is a success or not? If they wanted a particular car for Bond, they could give him any car, and then as a result of him having that car, it could actually become a success because people now want to buy it.

Because the car came out 3 years prior to Goldeneye and was a bit of an automotive punchline by '95, plus it cost the kind of money that not everyday people have, and people with that kind of money weren't going to shell out for a car that was deemed a failure when at the same time there was the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F50, just because Bond drove one for 10 minutes in the new movie.

Well other than in races, I've never seen anyone driving a McLaren on the road or owning one for "everyday" use. Is it even available as a non-racing car?

No, Gordon Murray purposely set out to make the ultimate road going supercar. They only made 106 McLaren F1 road cars, so chances of seeing one are slim, especially now they are valued at north of £20M, the GTR version was the one that did the racing i believe and could only be used on track.

I had to vote for the V8 Vantage from Living Daylights, it was the first Bond movie I saw in theaters and I instantly fell for that beast. I loved that it was a more modern version of the Goldfinger DB5 but with it's own stuff (still loved the laser that shot out of the wheel hub and sliced through the Russian cop car and played it off as 'salt corrosion' LOL). I was so pumped to see that it will be in No Time To Die even if it is a brief cameo, it will be a welcome one.
