I very well know what's going to win this poll. And I'm not begrudging it a bit of its success. It's one of my favorites of the year.

That said, Man on Wire is my favorite of 2008. There are shots here that are just breathtaking and "I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes". It's also a bit of cultural reclamation of the WTC as there's another vivid memory attached beyond 9/11 now, at least for me. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

A very weak year imo. Wall-E is my fav.

Yes. The Dark Knight.

I also loved Burn After Reading, Encounters at the End of the World and In Bruges.

I'll go with The Wrestler. Though I know TDK will obviously win this one.

The Dark Knight was the best of the year. Followed by...

The Wrestler
In Bruges
Frost/Nixon
Iron Man
Gran Torino

people always say that this is a weak year which I've never understood. there were so many films i enjoyed this year.

TDK will win just because it was good on its terms and also, come on this is SUPERHEROHYPE.

but a great many of the other movies that year were quite enjoyable and quite memorable

Other, no War,Inc. easily my favourite but on that list I would probably go for Hellboy II :woot: TDK, Begins, Iron Man, Spiderman, got nothing on Red :o. Gran Torino was pretty great too.

1. In Bruges - 10/10
2. Dark Knight - 9.5/10
3. Let the Right One In - 9/10
4. The Visitor - 9/10
5. Burn After Reading - 8.5/10
6. Tropic Thunder - 8.5/10
7. The Wrestler - 8/10
8. Milk - 8/10
9. Iron Man - 7.5/10
10. Hellboy II - 7.5/10

I chose OTHER, because The Chaser was my absolute favorite movie of 2008.

Btw, it's on a limited release in New York right now, if some of you NYC people are interested in a excellent (South Korean) thriller.

The Dark Knight, with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button trailing behind at #2.

Gran Torino followed closely behind it...Let the Right One In.

Not surprised at all that TDK is winning by a landslide.

Since TDK is going to win anyway, I'll vote for In Bruges.

Let the Right One In. A cinematic masterpiece that borders perfection .

I loved both of the two big superhero movies but I voted for Iron Man. The Wrestler and In Bruges are the only others I really liked (haven't seen them all yet). Very weak year IMO.

Interesting to see Spiderman 2 winning in what I thought was a pretty strong year.

Why the hell is there no Indiana Jones up there?

Wall-E gets my vote.

Other notable mentions for me are Revolutionary Road, Frost/Nixon, Iron Man and Slumdog Millionaire. Yeah, while TDK has great performances, is far from the best in my opinion. Heck, i think Begins is a much better movie :hehe:
