Shouldn't 300 be in the 2007 poll? It had only one festival screening in 2006.

Apocalypto, followed closely by United 93.

Apocalypto. I actually consider Pan's Labyrinth 2007 since that's when it expanded, even if I put in 2006 Apocalypto was still better though.

The Descent and SAW III (which despite all the smug eye-rolling and face-palming reactions it typically gets is full of interesting themes, emotion, and character arcs) were better than everything else that year.

The Departed was a rather bland, generic crime drama, and The Prestige was pretty bad. Couldn't have cared less about the characters and the execution of the story was self defeating toward its intended message.

Thank you! I was bored to death by The Departed.

Pan's Labyrinth is an excellent and amazing film. I went with that. However, close behind was Casino Royale, The Departed, and The Prestige.

I voted Pan's Labyrinth.
I still have yet to see the Departed though due to my love of Infernal Affairs. I've been let down by every American remake of asian film so far and I guess I've just given up on it completely.

Idiocracy is a classic.

I've seen it at least 6 times. It gets my vote.

Pan's Labyrinth gets my vote.

The Departed is a close second.

I voted Pan's Labyrinth.

I think The Departed is better, but Infernal Affairs is really good too.

It's a tie for me between Pan's Labyrinth & Casino Royale.

I absolutly adore Pans Labrynth but i had to go with Children of Men, its such a perfectly crafted movie. Emotionally it gets to me everytime.

I like the departed but I don't know, for me it wasn't the best of the year.

Man 2006 had some good flicks.

Man it's really to hard to choose a winenr among my 4 fav. films of 2006

The Prestige
The Illusionist
Children Of Men
Casino Royale

Difference between Prestige and Illusionist was that Prestige really focused on how a magic trick is performed whereas with Illusionist it ws just being in awe of the movie. Plus the cinematography was amazing ( IMO the best of 2006 movies)

And while Children Of Men had the heart and the action scenes were amazing and unexpected ( seriously the motorcycle scene just came out of nowhere) , in the end it just became "too preachy". I don't mind movies having a deeper meaning but i prefer them doing it in a more subtle matter instead of showing it like it is. For example the scene where the military is just in awe of the baby. It just felt too preachy.
I'd have prefered the scene where people react to the news report of 18 year old kid dying. Of course the kid was a *****e bag but the fact that people realise the humanity is screwed over came over really well in that scene. Some women crying..it was done in a subtle way.

And therefore i'll go with Casino Royale. While the middle part drag abit it's still my fav. Bond movie . Stellar performances , great action .

I have a slight bias against the Departed because I saw Infernal Affairs first.

I love The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine both in different ways.

I went with Sunshine...such a perfect cast, colourful characters, great script, funny, heartwarming and quirky. I loved every minute of it.

I'm going to give this a bump up. It's turning into a very competitive poll, just like 2004.

hmm i'm pretty sure i voted for children of men on this but after much deliberation i have decided upon Pans Labrynth
