I was wondering what u guys think are the best joker stories ever. I have the TPB Joker greatest stories ever told, Killing Joker, what other's should i pick up. I can't get TMWL since its like 100bucks. But again what do you guys think are essential Joker comics.

Killing Joke
A Death In The Family
Joker's Five Way Revenge
The Laughing Fish
Batman #1 (Also The Man Who Laughs, and Legends Of The Dark Knight #50, which are both retellings of this story)
The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told (Trade Paperback)

The Man who Laughs
A Death in the Family
The Joker: Devil's Advocate

Arkham Asylum and the Superman TPB, Emperor Joker.

-The Laughing Fish
-Dark Knight Returns
-Mad Love
-the Christmas story from Paul Dini's Detective
-and duh, Killing Joke and Man Who Laughs

And since we're on the topic of Joker stories, I guess his TAS appearances count as stories, too.

-Joker's Favor
-The Laughing Fish
-The Man Who Killed Batman

(anyone see a pattern here?) :cwink:

-Emperor Joker
-The Man Who Laughs
-Arkham Asylum
-The Killing Joke
-Mad Love
-The Dark Knight Returns
-Batman #663 (IMO)
-Batman #1
-The Laughing Fish

How good is Emperor Joker? I heard it was a Superman story.

It's prettt decent and has Joker art by Dough Manke, what more could you ask for.

1) Batman #1

2) The Killing Joke

3) This One'll Kill You, Batman (from Batman #260)

:joker:

I have been looking for "The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" for AGES. I can't find it anywhere.

It's frustrating, because I saw "The Laughing Fish" in "Strange Apparitions" TPB, and "The Joker's Five-Way Revenge" in "The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told" TPB, but I don't want to get either TPB just for one story. I skim-read both in the store, but would obviously like to own such classic Joker stories. So I'd like to have them collected in the "Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" TPB.

His No Man's Land run is pretty good, too.

Well I found TMWL for 60 bucks on ebay. Thanx for the suggestions, and thanx mad hatter for clearing things up.

Well, you need to get 'Strange Apparitions' anyway. Its Englehart/Rogers! Hugo Strange! Rupert Thorne! Penguin! Deadshot! Essential reading.
As is 'The Greatest Batman Stories Ever' - 'To Kill A Legend' was one of the first Batman stories I ever read and is still one of my faves.
I must have an earlier edition of this TPB - Five Way Revenge isn't in it, only in my copy of Greatest Joker Stories.

Killing Joke
The Joker's Five Way Reveng
The Laughing Fish
Dark Knight Returns
Batman #1

Gotta love these ones.

Also, the conclusion to No Man's Land.

I got a used copy off of Amazon. It was a tradepaper back from 1989.

Just go to Amazon, and type Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told into the search engine, and find the version you want to buy. Of course, you will need to register an account there and stuff like that if you want to order it.

Mad Love
LOTDK #50
The Joker's Five Way Revenge
The Killing Joke
The two Joker stories found in Batman #1
The Laughing Fish
The Man who Laughs
Who is the Red Hood

Showcase 1994 #1 & 2 are also noteworthy Joker stories. Although they are elseworlds. But they are good, IMO.

Also add Soft Targets to the list from Gotham Central.

I just got Arkham Asylum and am in the process of looking for TKJ. Will it be very hard to find?

In fact, let me ask, which of the above mentioned books are the easiest to find, and which ones will I have to scour eBay and empty my bank account for?

Most of them are reasonably accessible. I found Arkham Asylum to be a little pricey, but the rest are just as affordable and easy to find as your average mass-produced trade paperback. With the exception of the Man Who Laughs. That one's a spender.

My favorite Joker is the Laughing Fish 2 parter from the Englehart/Rogers Detective run.I highly recommend the Strange Apparitions TPB.

On a related note,The Killing Joke is getting a rerelease next year in a hardcover with extras.I figured I would mention it since I see threads asking about its availability from time to time.

Hardcover (alt cover, good/bad?) great condition, 13.99 Amazon. Wish I could find TMWL for a price near that...

The Laughing Fish
The Joker's Five Way Revenge
The Man who Laughs
The Killing Joke
The Man Behing The Red Hood
Batman # 1
