I just think that the lightasaber battle with darth maul was the only perfect thing about episode 1. Expecially the music and sounds. And of course Darth Maul was just totally cool in that battle. I think(and many would disagree)Its better that episode 3's anikin and obi light saber battle.

Ok, this is too hard! i need time to think this over

Right now i'm torn between the following:
- Qui-Gon/Obi vs Maul: fast paced, intense, amazing choreography, awesome music.
- Luke vs Vader round 1: leads to the biggest revelation of the saga.
- Luke vs Vader round 2: once again, the score and the intensity of the moment.
- Obi vs Vader (ROTS): great score, and Ewan and Hayden just nailed this in my book.
- Ben vs Vader (ANH): compared to the PT is slow, i know, but the way i see it, this duel is more psychological than physical and has one of the best Kenobi lines "You cant win Darth... if u strike me down i shall become more powerful than u can possibly imagine"

Luke VS Darth Vader, Round 2: Episode VI..it's my favorite of all time...reasons being
-Luke brings his father back to the Light Side
-It's a great duel
-I love the darkness of the duel
-Luke says 'I am a Jedi, Like my father before me'...a great line.

yeah, that's the emotion part right there. the originals were golden for that.

Technically, the prequel fights were faster & had more twirls & 'tricks'. But the originally trilogy had more emotional battles. The fight in Jedi was intense, especially when the epic music kicks in, and to top it off...."Never, I'll never turn to the dark side....You've failed your Highness, I'm a Jedi, Like my father before me" Totally Kick Ass!!

good point. when he cut Luke's hand off, i felt a lot of shock and awe. that's never been seen before.
(excluding the cantina scene in AHN, but that was lame editing)

The final lightsaber fight of The Phantom Menace. While the final lightsaber fight between Anakin & Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith that was more of a personal grudge between the two of them. The best intense fight definitely has to be in my opinion The Phantom Menaces final battle with alot more at stake. Granted one could say that the lightsaber fight between Palpatine & the Jedi's had alot more at stake but Palpatine set that whole thing up for him to win. So for me the best fight is Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan VS Darth Maul. it was not personal it was a straight up live or die fight with alot at stake & there was no cheating & planning involved like in the Palpatine VS Jedi fight

1. Luke v. Vader (VI): My favorite lightsaber battle. For me it was the most dramatic of all the battles, and it was cool to see Luke finally at his peak, his training complete. Plus, the black uniform and the glove were cool.

2. Sidious v. Yoda (III): I enjoyed this one so much because it involved two of my favorite characters and it was unexpected. I wish it had been a little longer though.

3. Maul v. Qui Gonn v. Obi Wan (I): Bar none, the best sequence in all of TPM, which is why I rank it so highly-most of the other SW movies had other action good scenes, but this is about the only one for me in TPM. It took forever for Maul to get down. It's really unfortunate that he died so quickly.

4. Luke v. Vader (V): The hand chopping, the revelation, what more can I really say.

5. Obi v. Anakin (III): The Duel was good on a technical level, but there was something detached about it. I wished that Obi had been pushed to his limits more, that there had been more emotion packed into that battle.

6. Dooku v. Yoda (II): It was great to see Yoda fight for the first time. I also liked the contrast of styles between him and Dooku. Though looking back at it, Yoda pretty much just jumped around.

7. Obi v. Vader (IV): It's not as fluid as later lightsaber battles, but the acting and dialogue more than make up for that. And Obi's end is still impactful.

8. Mace v. Sidious (III): I thought Sidious cleaved through the Jedi Masters far too easily, but his battle with Mace Windu had been a long time coming. I just wished it had been longer and we had been able to see a little more from Mace.

9. Dooku v. Obi v. Anakin (III): A nice evolution, or perhaps not so nice evolution of Anakin's temperment and skill in the second battle against Dooku.

10. Dooku v. Obi v. Anakin (II): I liked the two-handed lightsaber action, though it was far too short. Didn't like the day-glo closeups of Anakin. As for Dooku, I really liked his more elegant style and his curved lightsaber.
