In the wake of the Departed, I've been on a binge of my favorite Marty movies. I decided to make a poll (which I'm sure one exists from ages ago somewhere, but I didn't want to look 50 pages back) about what is his best movie:

A lot of people try to say it's a bit of a retread, but I prefer Casino over all of the others.

Don't get me wrong, Scorcese's the KING of mofia movies, and all of his films have edge, grit, and are gripping. But somehow I've always been fond of Casino, it just hits me in all the right places!

I love the length, the music, the pacing, the actors, the direction....Joe Bob Briggs has a CAMEO in this movie, and James Woods gives one of his BEST performances in an underlooked role!

Casino has EVERYTHING!!!

That was FREAKING FAST.

Anyway, mine go:

1. Goodfellas
2. Raging Bull
3. Taxi Driver
4. The Aviator
5. The Age of Innocence
6. Mean Streets
7. Gangs of New York (Yes, I love this flawed movie, and really WISH we'd see the original 3 1/2+ hour cut and not the 2:45 Harvey Weinstein butchered and chopped version)
8. Casino
9. The Departed
10. Cape Fear
11. The King of Comedy

Those are the ones I really remember and well. Well I also saw The Color of Money, but didn't think much of it though.

Casino is awesome. DeNiro was made for roles like Ace Rothstein. Joe Pesci is the bomb.

I really dig Cape Fear. It's a bit over the top, but that's great. And DeNiro is just frightening. I got you now *****!

1. Casino - Excellent and one of the best Scorsese movies!
2. Goodfellas - Great crime drama, much better than The Godfather III.
3. The Departed - Amazing action thriller with the point of duality.
4. The Taxi Driver - Awesome film about the personality of man like Travis Bickle.
5. Raging Bull - Greater than Rocky.

Greatest movie quote:

Business bad? **** you, pay me. Oh, you had a fire? **** you, pay me. The place got hit by lightning, huh? **** you, pay me.

Man, I'd love to say that to students that try to buffalo me with bs excuses.

Cape Fear is friggin' sweet too! I forgot how much I used to like that movie...

"Come out, come out, wherever you are Councilor!"

i'd have to go with either taxi driver, raging bull, or goodfellas.

Goodfellas. With Raging Bull as a very close second.

Goodfellas but Taxi Driver Casino and Raging Bull are all tied for 2nd

1.Goodfellas- All time classic, With great performances, Great music and great directing.
2.Taxi Driver- Great a complte look into the mind of man filled with hate.
3.Casino- Hugley styled.
4.Raging Bull- Great performace and directing.

The only one of his I've seen is Taxi Driver. I'd really like to see the rest.

Goodfellas may well be the best movie I've ever seen. It's incredible from the start to finish. And it probably has the best character development of any movie I've ever seen.

The Departed was the best film this year, and I'd definitely put it on level with Marty's stronger work.

I still need to see Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

Casino
Goodfellas

My 2 favorites...

Taxi Driver

Raging Bull

Departed

no Avatiar love? I'd have to say Taxi Driver is his best... It just so powerful, the ending is pretty intense cause you know he's slowing turning into a psycho and then just snaps.

Goodfellas is great though

"Got a letter here from the school saying you haven't been there in a month...a friggin MONTH!!"
Dad beats his wanna-be ganster kid.

*Ray Lotia voice over*

"It wasn't always like this"

lol

Taxi Driver
Good Fellas
The Departed
I haven't seen a lot of those.

The Aviator is in my top 5. In fact I'd say it's his best film since Goodfellas. But I'm not surprised it isn't as popular as his gangster pictures (granted Goodfellas I put as number 1) though.
