And how, pray tell, are you going to decide what the best 39 movies ever made are?

That seems like a lot of work to have so many choices in a poll. I would've quit after 5

I love how Pirates is right above Citizen Kane on the poll, hahahahaha

There was a film called "Apollo 11"? I know there's a film called "Apollo 13".

I voted other, I'm going to have to say Freddie Got Fingered is the best movie ever made

I'm conflicted...

There are some on here, like Spider-Man, that may be entertaining but are not IMO belonging on a list of "great movies", nor were they even trying to be.

And I don't think any of them should be on the list, but why is Prisoner of Azkaban the only Harry Potter movie? Seems kind of random to just put one movie out of a six film series.

As for my vote...I'm torn between Schindler's List, The Godfather, and The Silence of the Lambs.

The second best movie I've ever seen (and my favourite, I just can't in good conscience put it above The Godfather Part II) GoodFellas isn't on the list...

You have Pirates Of The Caribean but no Casblanca?
Where is Chinatown, Gone With The Wind, Raging Bull, E.T, Blade Runner, ect?

You could have easily made this a 50+ poll, I am not sure why the hell you settled on 39...

I don't know, dog. If the Lord of the Rings movies count as one choice, then the original Star Wars trilogy should, too. Basically what I'm trying to say is that you should have listed all the films separately like you did The Empire Strikes Back.

Can't make a 50 option poll... I can understand that part of what he's done here.

Oh jeez, I didn't even notice Gone With The Wind wasn't on the list....

Pirates of the Caribbean is as summer fluff as they come.

I'd tend to agree this list doesn't reflect the 39 best films of all time in the least.

Some of those are more groundbreaking than others, but...

THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy for me. Better than STAR WARS overall, even if we count the original trilogy as one big film as we are here, and contains pretty much everything any diverse moviegoer could ever want. Wonderfully executed films on almost every level, with a level of passion and dedication to the productions that I've not seen before or since.

It's a little unfair, because it's three MASSIVE films.

SCHINDLER'S LIST is the runner up, I think, on this list.

No superhero films should be on here either, not even the messiah known as TDK

That's it, you can close the thread.

Ah, I see. Well he could have taken out summer popcorn flicks and replaced them with, y'know, better movies :woot:

Debatable and I'm not saying that because this is SHH. :o

If you want to put superhero movies in your top ten that's fine, but can you really say that a superhero movie is the best movie ever made?

Favorite movie - Edward Scissorhands

BEST movie - 2001: A Space Oddyssey

These are two seperate things to me. Films like Citizen Kane, Casablanca, etc deserve lots of props and I would rate them high on a list of best overall films, but for my money 2001: A Space Oddyssey is the best overall film. It doesn't spell out its theme to the audience, and for this reason it is a widely discussed film. Cause no one is really sure exactly what it is about. There is no wasted screentime, the characterizations are awesome, the effects are stunning (for the time), and it is very rich and deep.

Where's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? It made a sh**load of money, so it deserves to be on the "Greatest Movie Ever" list, right?

jk, LOTR will always take the cake for me... but that's just a matter of personal preference. There are so many great films that I don't think you can boil it down to just one.

Personally, and I know this is going to probably rock a lot of boats, I don't even think TDK is the best of the Nolan Batman pieces. I rate Batman Begins a far better movie, better written and better cut (not better lit though) but less accessible and without a real killer performance like TDK has with Ledger.

I would put The Dark Knight in the 50 greatest movies of all time. So would most professional critics.
