I tried to limit it to the best of the best on the poll (y'know, no Tank Girl or anything), but if I've forgotten any truly great comic adaptation, just vote other, and curse at me in your post.

You forgot The Crow.

I can't believe you forgot The ****ing Crow. So you can guess what I voted for.

The Crow's going on the superhero poll, you dip ****.

Well, I never saw The Crow as a superhero, more of a vigilante (even though that's not the right word) as he was only fighting for vengeance (and at the end, for a friend of his). But it's your poll. :o

Your precious Crow is on the other poll now, ****er. :o

V For Vendetta

Sin City

followed very closely by V for Vendetta

I don't really like V For Vendetta. That movie is nothing but propaganda.

How so?

"Fascism is bad, freedom is good"?

That's what passes for propaganda these days? Interesting. :o

No.
Matt and Movies205 said some very interesting stuff about it a couple of weeks ago in this one thread. I definitely agreed with it. I'll go find the thread.

Tough one. Those are all (though I haven't seen American Splendor) fcking great. I choose A History of Violence.

What about Blade?

He's not a super hero...

For me, V wins this one by a long shot.

A History of Violence is the best comic book adaptation yet made and likely to remain so for a long time (Watchmen could top it, but not if they keep the ending I read). American Splendor is a close second. Honestly V for Vendetta doesn't really belong here, and even if it did, it's an egregiously dumbed down adaptation. 300 and Sin City are little more than eye candy. Road to Perdition was decent, but its story suffered from being forced into a standard 120-minute movie paradigm. The graphic novel Ghost World is quite possibly the best story about life as an adolescent, but the movie added Steve Buscemi's character and the story felt a lot less authentic as a result.

I said Road to Perdition in an effort to be different, thinking Ghost World would get number one. Oh the irony! I haven't seen American Splendour though.

I had to vote for V, even though I love all of those (except American Splendor and Ghost World, which I have not yet seen)...the letter scene/flashback was what tipped the scales, one of the best dont sequences I've ever seen...

i i am in shock i actually loved v for vendetta it was so much more than just a comic film, it had a point and a message in it.
