I like Hellboy, but it's not in the same league as Begins, Spidey 2, Superman, etc.

well BB is a generic action film full of cliche, sm2 has no dialogue, only speeches and thus loses the characters smaller qualities. Superman is good, but doesn't have quite the same level of consitency of mood, and the subtle hints of mirrored life.

All in all, hellboy is actually just your average white collar worker, pissed with his job and lack of *****, lol.

Action is good and well placed, humour is subtle and not in your face, also used appropriately. The characters are characters, not compilations of stereotypes or soemthing, but drawing elements from everywhere to establish well rounded characters.

Acting is top notch.
