Lews is phenomnal of course. He truly is, but that was one of the only things that I really dug about it. That scene where he throws the knives at Diaz. Awesome. "Oopsey daisy!"

He was good, but the people out there saying he's Travis Bickle good are insane.

EDIT:

I'd also like to mention The Departed isn't just another Scorsese gangster flick. This was a Scorcese cop flick, first and foremost.

This is harder to do than the Spielberg list but...

1. The Aviator
2. The Departed
3. Gangs of New York

I haven't seen the other documentaries.

I'm really curious as to why people are saying THE DEPARTED over GANGS. Is it because it's newer? It is, isn't it? :).
Taxi Driver is my fav Scorsese so no. Gangs have 2 good things in it. Its visually goodlooking and Day-Lewis is great. Everything else is ok at best. Its good but a very flawed film.

Gangs of New York without a doubt for me.

It's a strange time for me to find this thread. I watched Chinatown for the first time last night. Loved it. One of my favourite Jack performances.

He was good, but the people out there saying he's Travis Bickle good are insane.

People who compare the performances of Robert De Niro as Travis Bickle and Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher, those people are insane. :p
