I like XU and XDOFP the best! But DOFP has the edge for me simply because seeing the original gang after 8 years was just fantastic!:gngl:

Days of Future Past for me. The most emotional and engaging movie in the franchise. Plus as you already pointed out we got the original gang back one last time and then handed the torch to a new generation. I also really like the way it finally made X-Men feel like one big franchise again. With how much DOFP had to do, it is a miracle they pulled it off.

To a new generation? Isn't that why we are getting X-23 next year and just saw Teenager Warhead earlier this year?

Yes switching the focus to the younger generation and saying goodbye to the OT. The future is never truly set and all that. :woot:

Switching the focus, and yet we are getting older Xavier and Logan one more time. Colossus even showed up in the Deadpool movie.

If that was truly passing the torch, none of those actors/characters would show up post-Dofp since their torch was already given.

older Xavier and Logan one *last* time. End of an era.
Colossus like we've never seen him before.

Yeah, but still. If Dofp was them passing their torch to someone else, they wouldn't comeback for another film. That is like saying you retired in 2014, and giving your job to someone else but you will still show up to work til 2017. Er no.

The real passing of the torch is Wolverine to X-23. No more Hugh and Logan after this one. We don't even if James McAvoy has another X-Men film after Apocalypse underperformed at the box office. So Patrick passed his torch to James and yet the last big screen appearance of Xavier was done by Patrick.

You are over complicating it when it's not that difficult to understand.

I dunno. Thinking about it now, X-Men 1, 2, and First Class are the only ones to me that feel like actual 'team' movies. Part of that is things like in First Class, they're literally working together for the first time, and with X Men 1, you have the team working together most of the time, led by Scott as they should be, whereas with X-2, I love that film, but you have Scott taken out early on, followed by most of the team captured later. Though I did like how the team had to work with Erik since they had a common foe in Stryker.

So it'd be either X-Men or First Class for me as far as a 'team' movie.

X2 just ahead of DOFP. I also love FC and think Apocalypse is under rated.

X2 is close to perfect as X-men films go.now i would myself have given cyclops a bit more to do but it was approate being based on part on God loves man kills.

I think first X-Men is underrated.too many now dismiss it because of low budget but man watching it i still love it.people forget what a struggle it was to get it made and what it did for genre.I am probally biggest fan of apocalypse here.far from best X-Men film, that is X2,but doesn't deserve massive hate it gets.well at least bryan singer ended his involvement with X-Men with film I enjoy.

I totally agree about X1, I have defended it multiple times on these boards as people tend to dismiss it for not being more faithful and more comic booky than the CBMs we have today. People forget the landscape for CBMs was VERY different back then and Singer had to tread carefully. CBMs were basically a joke back then.

People slate Singer as well but forget he is a huge factor in why CBMs are so popular and so appreciated today.

I agree on Apocalypse, I really like it so for me Singer has provided 4 enjoyable X-Men movies that I can watch over and over.

we agree on a lot of point here.for me I liked X-Men better than first class because it feels more like X_Men I know.fact we got X-Men a well know comic book property made in aftermath of B&R was big deal plus we had something that wasn't campy that was fairly serious with dark tone and didn't have an over the top villain was a revelation.

X-Men revived the genre and then Spider-man explorded it.

while i have issues with critcs for how they went after apocalypse Singer did make the best revieved X-Men film-DOFP and one of next 2-X2 and he has another with over 80% at RT-X-Men

X1 utilized Cyclops as the team leader properly. By X2 he gets knocked out and disappears for most of the film, and then dies in X3. This franchise has done a great disservice to the character and that challenges my enjoyment of most off these movies. And now we have Mystique as the team leader in the new timeline post DOFP.
