Cena isn't going win over Punk's fans until he turns heel and he won't do it. He's doing it for his fans.
I give props to Cena.He stepped up tonight. The thing that's great about Punk isn't him dropping names. He makes you believe in what he's saying. You know it's real to him. That's what the best in the business have always done.

In fairness to Cena he could probably bring that regularly, he is a good talker who has been booked into a corner by the WWE.
If WWE gave him the option he'd turn heel in an instant.
I was when this first started but I realized now, that he's just naming names. Tonight when they called him out of his BS, he called them out on BS. But their **** was firing people on the phone? Come on Punk, you can do better than that. Cena has regain my respect and fanhood during this whole thing. They keep calling him phony but Cena's the realist guy in this whole thing in my eyes. He's doing it for his fans and not wanting anything out of this except to be the champ.
Were talking storyline. I don't know if he'd turn heel as quick but he'd probably be a little less Superman and more himself. If WWE gave him the option he'd turn heel in an instant.
And that's totally cool because I can see where you're coming from. Both guys made compelling arguments tonight. That's how it should be. That...is pro wrestling.
I feel the same way about Punk and Cena does the same thing.Cena was very good tonight...the problem is that he had no ammo in his gun. His points were fluff. While Punk could say honest, truthful things that destroyed Cena...Cena really has nothing to go against Punk...and the few things he does have, Punk just embraces, which immediately makes the attack useless.
WWE doesn't owe any guy they fire a reason. Your fired, your fired. I don't have to explain it or tell you in person.
As if it wasn't obvious before...
The Punk/Cena rivalry this summer really underlines the importance of promos. The mic, more than in the in-ring work at times, is what will get a feud or a star over. It's why it's so important for guys to learn it and not rely on being spot monkeys. It also shows why scripted promos suck. Punk is Punk as always, but this was the most natural Cena has sounded on the mic in a long time.
I don't know how they're going to book main-event feuds when this is over in terms of promo work.

*ahem* JOHN MORRISON
Well said, once again I agree.
John Morrison is not a spot monkey. I'm as critical of him as anybody but a spot monkey he is not. It's just that his spots this year have really stood out and nothing else about him has.
No I'd be pissed off. But My boss doesn't have to give me a reason. So if you were called up by your boss and fired out of the blue.. you wouldn't ask why? Or expect to be given a reason? You'd justs say "Ok, thank you for your time" and take it?

Eh, I was mostly meaning "needing to learn to talk" than "spot monkey."
I think so. Tonight he did do a "defy the odds" style promo OR a silly joke laden promo. What he said tonight just felt like a real guy going out there and letting his feelings be known.
Thats when Cena is at his best on the mic in this kinds of big stories. I thought his work tonight had ten times more substance than that Rock video...and thats more of what THEIR particular feud will need come Wrestlemania.
Cena doesn't necessarily even have to turn heel to make his act more fresh in the short term he just needs to inject his work with more of the genuineness he displayed tonight.
