Better score: Avatar or UP?

slightly. It was played (briefly) when the death eaters arrived, and musical variations played in the film. Not until the credits did we hear the full song

however that doesnt mean i think UP's score was the best of the year...
but certainly Avatars forgettable mediocre score isnt even a mention for me.

i forgot harry potter... the score was awesomely chilling and dark. but most of the movie had no music so thats a bit unfair lol.

i dont remember Origins score at all... havent seen the movie since theaters id have to watch it again.

and Origins was really good, then again, I'm a serious MV freak, so I might be a tad biased...

UP is one of the most refreshing creative and original scores in years.

Avatar is Horner as usual, there are moments in the score where i almost hear, My Heart will go on. I've given up on Horner, all of his melodies and scoring since The Perfect Storm sounds the same. Titanic and The Perfect Storm sounds like Willow, the theme to Bicentennial Man sounds like Braveheart. Krull sounds like The Wrath of Khan. I'm sick of the cymbal crash every time something big happens. That wood flute he uses all the time. Don't get me wrong I love

Sometimes i wonder if we listen to different scores. For me it's simple crazy to call Avatar's score midiocre or fake-ish, ot whatever. I just hear nothing special in UP, but i have noticed that when someone dont like a movie (avatar) they strat to hate everuthing in it (score).

Dont comment on my post, beacuse what ever you say, i hear Avatar's score as one of the most beautyfull and original scors ever, and when I hear UP's i hear simple and not in any way special score. That will never change. I made this topic just to see what you thinking and i saw. I dont understand it, but...

Just watched UP again, just for the music. Nothing special. There is far better scores this year. Kerzachovshy's score for A Single Man is pure brilliance, and if it's not Horner with the big win, I say Abel must take it.

"Up" all the way. Giachinno is more versatile than Horner and his score had the right flow and emotion. Avatar's score did not serve the movie well. Regardless of two or three scenes, the rest is generic old hat stuff that doesn't flow at all and keeps making awkward cuts from one theme to a whole new different one. The part where Sully freefalls from the tree tops with Neytiry during his training is trite and really bad.

In other ways, I've seen people cry with Up's score and not remember at all Avatar's. That says a lot.
