I've been really curious as to what could make that big rig do that somersault from the trailer. Someone came up with an idea that maybe Batman had weaponized his bike to use those pressurized sewer caps that blew off in Batman Begins. There's no flames so it doesnt seem to be that kind of explosion. But just wondering what you all think.

that's a good question. couldn't even begin to speculate. rocket launcher on the batpod? don't know. and yeah, there doesn't appear to be an explosion per se. and we all remember the spy vid, it was a weird sound. like pressure or steam as you mentioned. maybe they will add cg fire or somethin. who knows? ithink majik is right, we won't know until we are sitting there watching the movie =)

haha very true but some of us are scratching our heads everytime we see that big rig do that flip, and it looks so damn cool too! ha

What's been bugging me is. When I first saw the truck being flipped from the spy vids i thought to myself they are going to edit out the "smoke" thing that is coming out from under it while flipping. Then when I saw it in the trailer and it wasn't edited out it led me to think that the truck is being flipped on purpose. Cause whatever is flipping the truck is attached to the truck (at least I think so) so maybe "It's all part of the plan"

i kinda thought they might edit out that steam like smoke and put in flames and turn it into an explosion, but it doesnt seem like it in the trailer, none of the truck is really destroyed or damaged when its blown in the air

Maybe just a gadget in the Batpod(a little ball with extreme pressure concentrated in it) that Batman throw under the truck and boomm....

It's just an unfinished scene. Unfinished scenes are used in trailers all the time. The second trailer for BB had the shot of Batman swooping down in Arkham sans bats flying around everywhere. The steam from under the truck is from a type of pressure pod special effects crews use in movies all the time to flip cars and other heavy things over. So the steam has no value within the world of the movie, and will probably be masked by CGI or made to look like smoke from an explosion. My best guess would be that an explosion from a projectile to the lower back of the truck causes the flip, but we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, This scene is definitely unfinished. Someone told me that the bat pod supposedly drives underneath the Truck as it flips. But I'm Not sure how true this is.

I dont know how it happens in the movie but this summer my buddies and I went downt to Chicago and actually took a piece of that truck. It has this pressurized cannon underneath it that projected it upwards.

If there's no fire it might be CGIed in later or it might be a part of Joker's Slaughter truck. I don't think the Joker is in the truck when it flips.

actually the machine that was used to flip this truck used a lot of preassure. so IMO thats why there is smoke.

and yes this is an 10% finished shot IMO.

Remeber that scene from the BB trailer when Batman jumps down the staricase in Arkham Asylum? They added CGI bats well after that trailer. Could be like that.

Well He is supposed to be in the truck, Because he Climbs out and fires his machine gun at the bat pod.

Probably hit a twig on the ground.

I hope that the bat pod could lay mines of some sort and the truck runs over it causing it to flip, but then again the whole stunt is just bizzare, the way it flips, no fire, nothing around it showing us why or how it does this.... curious. I would like to believe this wasnt finished yet but why would it be in the trailer then if it wasn't finished??

Its still early, I remember most recently the Spiderman 3 teaser had footage that they altered in the actually movie. They might add an explosion or something to the truck, who knows.

The flip of the truck is one of my favourite parts of the trailer. Just looks awesome!

Judging from the smoke underneath it, it looks like Batman fired something at it, probably exploding under the truck, causing it to flip over.

I am assuming that Batman used the Batpod and fired something and it went under the truck and made it flip, and then we get the big epic fight from Joker and Batman. "Come on hit me!"

Or it might have been the Joker was laughing too hard and it rocked the truck over and made it flip. :woot:

No that's not smoke, it's compressed gas. You can see the same effect when the aston martin flips in casino royale, or when oj simpson is flung from his wheel chair at the end of naked gun 2.5

Either it's an unfinished shot, or something actually physically flips the truck.

I think it's the second, and here's why - if an explosion occurred underneath the rig, why would it flip? Sure, the force could perhaps catapult it into the air, but most likely, the rig would just explode - you know, fuel and all. The Joker would be barbecued, which isn't Batman's style - remember, no killing, and certainly a truck explosion would cause collateral damage. Batman and Gordon and everyone else want to capture Joker ALIVE.

You can also clearly see the flipped truck in other shots from the trailer, and there's no fire - it's simply on its back, with no evidence of an explosion.

So I'm thinking Bats uses some kind of special tool (no doubt Pod or Tumbler-related) to flip the truck from underneath. Perhaps the Tumbler has some sort of hydraulic flipping mechanism that, much like a cow-catcher on the front of a train, can reach out and fling objects/debris - the thing was designed for combat, after all.

But see... he's not killing him. He's just not saving him. From the flaming ball of truck wreckage.

According to BB, that's just dandy :cwink:

yea i guess it may not be finished, i remember the spider-man 3 teaser had peter ripping the suit off w/ou any of that cgi, then they added all that black goo later. but these are all great theories ha

Cmon!! Hit Me!!!!
