The Dark Knight Biggest Disappointment

If you're going to make an argument don't be silly about it. No one wanted that Two-Face, but a whole heap of people wanted a darkly complex Two-Face who was split into two men after the horrifying events he experienced. I loved TDK's Two-Face, but in the end I feel he would be so much more if he was given his mental disorder.

Silly? I don't see the problem with how the story and themes were presented, it all worked. A Two-Face that you wanted wouldn't have worked as well in the same movie, they would have had to drastically change it. And this was about as good a Batman movie we are going to get, why change it for the sake of having to stay exactly the same as in the comics? They didn't really take it that with the Joker and he worked out pretty damn good. This Two-Face worked just about perfectly with the themes and story of the movie.

After reading through some threads I'm beginning to see that quite a bit of people don't exactly understand the movie much at all. I don't mean that as an insult, really I don't. But just think of the writing changes alone when you say you wanted a schizo Two-Face instead. Massive changes.

If he was schitzo Harvey would have eventually fallen. In TDK Harvey was fine until the Joker interfered. It makes Harvey's fall from grace that much harder since he was a model citizen and the Joker brought him down to an irredeemable level. If Harvey was schitzo he would have eventually fallen because of his mental state and it wouldn't be as emotional when you see him fallen from grace because harvey couldn't help it.

Oh well to each his or her own.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the split personality Harvey Dent/Two-Face from the comics owe his downfall due to "criminal interference" as well? I don't remember him having any mental disorders before he was scarred.

There are a couple of choices. In TAS they introduced Big Bad Harv which was the dark side of Harvey that he was seeking to control. In the comics it is because of criminal interference that Harvey breaks down. However for a movie that introduces Harvey and transforms him into Two-face, it would be really hard for them to establish that gradual decent into madness since you would need a long progression of time.

Yeah...He could have easily filled Finch's part. Without getting snuffed that is. the buildup to Two-Face would have been aweome, and it would have even been able to introduce the Big Bad Harv persona.

Do you know why they didn't include Dent in BB?

They could have still kept Rachel, really. Dent's role would be kind of a minor one, just introducing the character to the audience. A bit more screentime than what Finch had. Although you would need a scene in which he is shown to be a bit unstable.

well BB was a test run. They had no idea if a realistic reboot would be well received, also needed a female character.

The whole point of the TDK Harvey was that he was essentially a classical Shakespearean character - someone who is undone by his own extreme goodness. That is why the Nolans decided to kill him off in the end.

That'd be as ridiculius as useless since we all know/imagine what emotions follow the death of the love of your life. Your imagination can bring a lot of those emotions without getting through the absurdity of writing them down.

IMO that was gut-wrenching, I really thought he was gonna come out and say "I'm Bruce Wayne!!She was my friend since we was kids!!" or something like that. The look on Batmans face when he said it was "intense", you could literally see how hurt he was.

Absolutely agreed.

TDK is nothing short of brilliant moments. That's why is funny the jumpiness over tiny criticisms.

The movie was fine; Harvey Dead...so what get over it! that's the story; i wasn't particularly upset he was dead; it was sad ; but, like he said "I can't escape this" Harvey Never intended on living probably; he wanted revenge for Rachel; other than that...what's he got to live for?

Why more scarecrow? It wasn't about him; he was in there cause annoying 'fans' would have *****ed about him not being in it; if nolan kept him out. What do you guys want?

If you want a comic book timeline then you've got to read a comic; in the real world people die and keeping Harvey alive would not have made sense to his character. After trying to kill Gordon's family what would he have done?


Turned himself in and gone to jail...and I wouldn't want to see a film of Harvey Dent just sitting in a jail cell.

Appreciate the WONDERFUL film you got and write a fan-fic of these silly ideas; I'll read it;; but, i wouldn't DARE want to see Batman handled in such a careless manner.

This is something I found on youtube. Now, this is not exactly what I would have done with the sonar vision, but its pretty close. Basically I wanted the sonar vision to look a little more rigid, a little more real.

Ignore the thing in the middle. I would want it rigid like this, like a grid map of the building, showing the people inside. And batman can pull the sonar vision into a side bar, so he can view both the sonar and what is actually there.

I think the dialogue for that whole scene was done by Goyer. The Nolans had to give him something.
