Since we have a "Biggest Disappointments" thread, I figured it would only be proper to also have a "Biggest Satisfactions" thread. So in here, post the things that you got the most satisfaction from in connection to The Dark Knight, tell us all the things that "put a smile on that face!"

I'll start off.

I was definitely happy when I heard Batman utter the line "I need a few moments before your men contaminate the scene." Seeing Batman do some detective work was something I was very happy with, since it hasn't been a very big focus in the previous films.

And one thing I was very happy about was that Heath got the last laugh over those media-hungry jerk offs who wanted to boycott his funeral. Those people gave Christians a bad name, but now more people then ever are watching and praising Ledger's performance, and rightly so. All those over-zealous fanatics can do now is sit at home and grumble that all their kids are paying money to watch an "unholy" man on the big screen.

Good idea for a thread, btw.

Well, of course, the pencil trick.

Batman tackling 2-Face.

Gordon coming back. I knew he wasn't dead, but the way they reintroduced him was cool.

Seeing Batman examine the bullet, and seeing Bruce going around, doing detective work.

Batman cracking ankles, and seeing him at that club, whooping all kinds of ass.

Just seeing Batman do things he would be doing the comics, IMO.

There was so much in this movie that made me happy, like Batman saying give me a few a moment with the scene before your people contaminate the scene, and Batman just showing up and disappearing, like was seen in BB too, these movies are so faithful it's great, and it goes beyond that they are just faithful but great stories too and so fun to watch.

Joker saying he didn't wanna' kill Batman 'cause he completes him.:yay:

And just the way the Joker was played, so evil but still funny and dark.

It was everything Joker should be even though his make up wasn't a scar on his skin. although I wish he'd have had his make up on his neck too it would have looked better, at times when it would rub off it just felt weird to see such a faithful Joker have his make up coming off but still great.

And Two-Face's look, he finally came to life.

This movie is so great, TDK is cool 'cause now they have even more to do from the comics, scenes like the rooftop meeting of Batman, Jim, and Dent.
I think my fave line was just hearing Gordon being called Commissioner for the first time. I applauded at that in the theater the first time I saw it.

It's also cool that Batman has a sleeker costume now, although next time I think they should thin down his mask a bit.

I agree, I thought the fight scenes were much, much better then in BB. Nolan didn't cut the scenes as quick and you could actually tell what was going on. Overall I'd definitely say the fights were much improved.

And Spider-Bat, seeing Dent, Gordon, and Bats all standing on that roof was also one of my favorite scenes. It was nice to see such a homage to TLH.

Definitely the moment where Batman has Maroni hanging over the side of the balcony and Maroni says he wouldn't die if dropped from that height.

Batman: I'm counting on it. *drops* *Maroni breaks both legs*

I appreciated that Batman could be intense without breaking his one rule. Same with the interrogation scene, though differently.

The mask was alright. It's just the nose. :P

I loved all the subtle jokes that were made. Eg. "I certainly hope not."

That plus the "But I did bloody tell you" line.

Im most satisfied with the respect this film has garnered for fiction movies.

That Christopher Nolan had made this movie, that's my biggest satisfaction, and also having meeting you guys, cheers!

1)Ledger's Joker performance
2)Bruce Wayne being portrayed as highly intelligent (love how he takes Fox's idea and expands on it)
3)The birth of The Dark Knight Detective - how could anyone not love the way Bats uncovers a fingerprint from a bullet?
4)Eckart brought so much passion and rage to Harvey Dent. You could almost feel his loss. When Ramirez tries to justify her actions for double-crossing Rachel, Dent yells, "DON'T!!!" and his anger is almost palpable.
5)The way the Batpod emerges from the Tumbler! I don't care if it looks fake to some.
6)I've seen this film more than once and so far, every time the body of the dead guy dressed up as Bats slams against Mayor Garcia's office window, it startles the hell out of me!
7)I'm happier with Gyllenhaal's portrayal of Rachel here.
8)In the last scene, Dent questions why he was the only one who lost everything and Batman painfully replies, "It wasn't." That scene really got me because it's kinda like a slap in the face considering all that Rachel means to Bruce - even though Dent doesn't know Batman's identity. Thankfully he doesn't reveal it like Raimi's Parker always does.
9)The scene where Bats goes after Lau is Ace!
10)The Russian girl (played by Beatrice Rosen) looks great in her bikini.
11)Bruce risking his own neck to save the life of a coward who earlier tries to blackmail him. It shows just how much of a hero Bruce really is even though he doesn't think so.
12)Gordon's wife deserves some credit here. She really shows how good you can be in even the tiniest of roles.
13) The title of this film.
14) The damsel in distress/love interest gets offed in a film based on a superhero - FIRST TIME EVER!
15) Best film in its genre - ever!

There's more, but I'm going to stop now.

Everything between and including the blue flaming Bat and the end credits...

More percisely I really loved the interrogation scene, the whole hospital sequence, the opening scene, Batman having to choose between Rachel/Dent and that entire suspenseful sequence, Joker's attack on the Wayne party, the mid-movie chase with the birth of the bat-pod and the showdown between Joker and Batman, any scene with Michael Caine, Fox talking to Batman about the morality of the sonar device, and the entire ending from when Gordon arrives to find Two-Face.

I just really liked the whole movie, it's subtexts, its pacing, its acting, characterization, writing, moral ambiguity and thoughtfulness of material. Brilliant.

The whole movie, but to be specific:

The introduction of the batpod. It felt so natural and was unexpected.

Aah wow so many things! I think I'll come back to this thread a few times :p

I'd purposefully avoided spoilers for a while...the Batpod thing I loved, I was trying to work out where and how it came to appear and oh yes!

The Bat and Joker scene, you know...I'm SURE he hits his head on the desk and against the window full pelt, like they both said to each other...ah let's just go for this and for a moment you're like 'Ouch!' haha!

Rooftop definitely, I LOVE the truck flipping...was trying to work that one out beforehand as well.

Dent not wanting to be rescued, oh god you know?

The whole fricking film :D :D :D :D

Oh, god, let's see... all the TLH/DV, Killing Joke and Man Who Laughs homages, coincidental lines with Lovers and Madmen, Batman as a THE detective, THE badass, and THE super human (in a philosophical sense) he is, THE JOKER!!!. There's nothing that didn't satisfy me, a nice element was the IMAX footage and IMAX showings

When the Joker says sumthin like "I think you and I are destined to do this forever" i loved that, kind of a nod to the comics! Best SuperHero film by far!

"All your strength and you have NOTHING to threaten me with"

was a personal fave.

Heads you live.

Tails you die.

"Now we're talking!"

How was that not one of the best parts of the movie? Joker just said it so sadistically. It reflected Harvey Dents rule that everyone stood an equal chance, whether it be the man who killed his fiancee, or Batman, or a young boy. It was just everything all at once. It was the culmination of the Harvey Dent arc from Harvey Dent to Two-Face. It was the end all to Joker's "One bad day can make anyone insane" idealism. To me it was one of the best part, and most intricate parts to the whole film.

Satisfaction

:lmao:

'What do you believe in?!'

'Disco!'

You should not mock the great Will Fitchner.

This makes me sad :(

He looks like Uncle Bastard at a family party :D

My favourite part was near the start when scarecrow and the gangsters were meeting up, and then the fake Batman shows up at first I thought it was Bataman but then we found out it was the fake Batman. And then when the real Batman showed up and bent that fake Batman gun that was ****ing awesome and everyone cheered. I felt extremly satisfied with Batmans introduction and felt it couldnt have been done better.
