BioShock Infinite DLC heralds the return of the weapon wheel

BioShock Infinite's forthcoming Burial at Sea DLC will re-introduce the series' classic weapon wheel mechanic, level designer Andres Gonzalez revealed during a recent Reddit AMA session.

Previously featured in BioShock and BioShock 2, the weapon wheel pauses in-game action while players select from an arsenal of available firearms and abilities. BioShock Infinite ditched the mechanic in favor of a new system that limited players to two equipped weapons at any given time.

Gonzales notes that the wheel mechanic will make its return alongside new plasmids and weapons exclusive to the Infinite's Burial at Sea chapters.

"I can tell you that for Burial at Sea: Episode 1 we added new weapon, a new Plasmid, new Gear, Tears and we brought back the weapon wheel," Gonzalez said. "As far as upgrades go, there are upgrades available for Plasmids and you can upgrade the new weapon."

THANK GOD!!!!!

I HATED that they switched to only being able to have 2 weapons in Infinite.

So I'm reading the Bioshock Rapture book and I really want to play the first game again. It's really well written and is really interesting.

It starts around 15 years before the first game. It deals with Andrew Ryan setting up Rapture, everybody moving in, Frank Fontaine coming in and his backstory, how they both started fighting over Rapture and it's eventual downfall up to a few months before the first game.

It shows Ryan formulating his plans or the city, meeting Bill McDonagh who is one of his few friends and it mostly shows the view points of Bill, Ryan, Fontaine and a few others as it progresses. We get to see how the ADAM and EVE was found and used, see how Suchong and Tenebaum worked and how the splicer war started and eventually went bat**** crazy.

It also deals with the creation and "education" of you know who, along with how the Big Daddies and Little Sisters were made. All in all, a great read and well done.

I also found the Bioshock Infinite book too. So I'll be giving that a read as well.

Is that the prequel eBook?

It is. It's only 30 or so pages but looks interesting.

I have the eBook but have not gotten around to reading it yet. It reminds me I need to pick up the Rapture novel.

If you enjoyed the backstory of Rapture in the game then you'll really like the book.

debating if I should pick this game up at $30 or wait till a GOTY/Ultimate edition with all the DLC........

Pick up the GOTY. You'll be a happier person for it. And if it wasn't already mentioned it'll be happening any way. So just wait for that.

For this, not just yet. But Dishonored own was. I'm sure this one will have one as well. I just forgot to put "n't" in. Which I just did now. Sorry

Finally I might benefit from a GOTY. I always seem to buy these games with all the DLC and the GOTY gets announced the day after.

oy. Lol Let's let them finish with the DLC's first. I'm sure a GOTY is on the way and it'll be fully announced when their ready.

ah, ok. thanks.

yeah.......you'd think they'd do a GOTY.

I think I'll just wait. unless Black Friday has a really good deal on the game.

I'm eyeing the Dishonored GOTY, too, and waiting for Black Friday for that, as well.

wonder when Part 2 will hit??

I'm interested to see what Elizabeth gameplay looks like.

A “new” setting and minor changes to the combat present something different, but Burial at Sea isn’t so far removed that it’s unrecognizable.
    ... More
