I think my main issue with the trailer is that Harley is just not very funny in it and her lines are not witty at all. The Suicide Squad trailers made her seem like genuinely unique aND funny character- here she just seems annoying
I don't agree. Logan had a I think younger girl who didn't speak english, but I don't think I've heard 2 dimensional complaints about her.Mute Asian girl who's an assassin looks derivative and stereotypical, which could be the reason why they decided not to use it, besides making her mute robs her of any opportunity to have verbal interaction with Harley and other BoP, which would make viewers think that her character was not developed fully and she was given a 2-dimensional character.

At this point I'm pretty convinced none of the other Birds of Prey got any positive feedback during test screenings.

X-Men Apocalypse. Olivia Munn and Lana Condor had four lines. What films exactly have a mute Asian girl in it?
Well said.Margot's Harley Quinn is not funny at all.
X-Men Apocalypse. Olivia Munn and Lana Condor had four lines.
Jubilee in X2/X3 didn't really have lines as well.
It's a combination of already existing movie tropes, which is why I said in some of my posts that it looks derivative concept. Angry girl as side kick ? Hit girl and X-23 in Logan are examples of that, while I admit, X-23 in Logan was not mute but she had few lines of dialogue. Then you have numerous examples of young Asian girls shown as expert in fighting skills and they are often depicted as antagonists. Comic book accurate Cassandra Cain would have been a combination of all that. What films exactly have a mute Asian girl in it?

Which one is her in this dark image with barely recognizable faces? What did they do to Mary Elizabeth Winstead?

Since this movie will be just introducing some members of Birds of Prey and we will learn about the origins of BoP, they wanted costumes that can be made using everyday clothes, it would look odd to see comic book accurate costumes right from the start as the team is not fully formed and they have not really started the crime-fighting, so basically they are just regular people not super-heroes. Think how Jessica Jones looked in her Netflix series.
Besides, in Marvel's Defenders, how comic book accurate costumes were these ?

For the record, I've just seen few clips on YT but as far as I know.. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage were seen in everyday street clothes in their first season. Daredevil had a very basic costume in first season, so that particular Defenders pic captures what they were going for in their series. Not sure if you watched Defenders but if you did, why did you pick that picture when you know the context behind it?
To add to this, it just feels like Suicide Squad 2 (or a spin-off) to me. That’s not surprising, of course.Still not feeling it. At all.

If there's one positive thing I can say about BOP is that it will lure in casual fans of Harley Quinn and gets them into Huntress, Canary, Cassandra Cain or even Montoya.

Neither did most of the other X-Men not named Wolverine, Deadpool, Xavier, Mystique & Magneto.
if they didn't want asian girl assassin with few words then why put Cass in there but i guess they needed a token asian girl.
but hey we've only seen glimpse of her so she could be a badass assassin in the actual movie who knows.
