DC Films Black Canary film in development at HBO Max

When I saw this thread get bumped, I was ready to be disappointed it was cancelled.

I think we can all agree that BOP was well cast.

MEW was the standout for me in that movie

She was a pretty marginal character in that film, and she didn't have much of a personality other than being adorkable and trying to look and sound cool.
I love MEW but she doesn’t seem believable as moody/angsty characters. The part where she yells about not being angry (or something like that) was terribly overacted.

But she was good otherwise

I think she's a great actress, but she didn't really get to do much as Huntress. I was severely underwhelmed with her role. Frankly, I don't even think the Birds of Prey belonged in that movie. I was a Harley Quinn story, not a Birds of Prey story.

Yeah... they saw the backlash and the plummet in their stocks after the Batgirl news. For now, everything is fine. Of course, by fine they mean, ''It's in development hell and will never see the light of day''.

Much as I do want to see Black Canary, and Smollett working with Misha Green again after Lovecraft Country, I'll need more ironclad proof than just what a spokesperson said. Get cameras rolling and then we see it on HBO Max, and I'll believe it.

Unless this thing is budgeted considerably lower than Batgirl ( most likely it is) I dont think this will come out.

Unless they make it a theatrical release.

Yeah despite what's been said I won't get my hopes up for this one just yet.

Ehh. . . I am skeptical that the stock drop was in relation to anything bad Zaslav did. If anything, it probably dropped because he didn't announce enough cancellations, enough layoffs, enough new reality TV, or enough NFTs. Stockholder responses tend to be driven by extremely short term considerations of stock value, rather than even the long term economic health of a business.

( Which is why I tend to think that corporate duty to stockholders ought to be defined in black letter law as related to dividends, and dividends *only*. . . )
