The gravestone picture is from Spider-Man: Reign. It's completely out of continuity and many Spider-Man fans have been comparing it to Spider-Man's Dark Knight Returns. So, your worry about a dead red head in the regular universe can be diminished.

And this is something I didn't really expect. I certainly expected that we'd be getting a plethora of Venom stories and Sandman stories with the upcoming movie, but not Spidey going back into the black costume.

AND WHERE THE HELL DID BEN REILLY COME FROM?!

I love Ben Reilly and loved the Clone Saga, but it'd be ******ed to bring back Ben Reilly.

But this will actually be interesting to see...and, of course, it's a tie in with the movie. What, is this like the first time Quesada has LIED to people? Give me a break. Just like we got a ton of Goblin stories before SM 1 and organic webbing in the comics. And just like we got a ton of Octopus stories and an updated black trenchcoat wearing, Matrix wanna be Ock in the comic for SM 2.

Frankly I was never a fan of the "unmasking" so if they want to undo it, the sooner the better. Maybe afterwards they can get a writer who may actually remember that Spider-Man's appeal came from a supporting cast and having a life that was something other then, "working off panel, being Spidey all the time, except for bedroom panels with MJ or randomly talking to May". He's a teacher, that should be a GOLD MINE for creating new cast members.

If he has a good reason for wearing black after CW, I'll be for it. I prefer the classic togs which always return, but the black suit was the best alternate he ever got. Surely better than the Iron Spidey thing.

And I actually want to hear that it's sheer "coincidence" that it ties into SM3 from Joe Q himself, just so I can see if the B.S. actually drips from his nose, because he's so full of it. When it comes to Spider-Man, anything the movies do get thrown in. Just look at the webbing. Of course, it's also ensuring MJ's survival. She'd be dead tomorrow without the films. And I know that DC is equally guilty of ****ing their movies, that doesn't make it right.

I never thought of that. Most of my fave Spidey stories is when he's not 100% Spider-Man.

And if Joe Q DOES say that. You can guarantee I will do everything in my power to kill him.

Would that work though? In House of M Gwen Stacy never died, so in theory, Miles Warren never tried to clone her, and because of that, Peter Parker would have never been cloned

Either way. If it IS Ben Reilly, I don't see why he would even fight Iron Man. And if he did, it wouldn't be too much of an improvement of Spider-Man fighting Tony. It would be the same one sided battle in Iron Man's favor.

It'd be significantly worse actually seeing as how Ben Reilly has had none of the several major upgrades and new powers that Spiderman has had over the last couple years.
Spiderman is significantly more powerful than his clone was.

Personally I think MJ dies and Peter goes off the deep-end, hunting down the current venom and taking the suit from him, using his new increased powers to take revenge on those responsible for MJ's death. It'll be dark and edgy and it'll end with Eddie Brock getting the venom suit back. It also might mean Pete needs to take the name Ben Reilly due to being on the run.

Ok, read a bit more on this and if they **** up Peter Parker permanently, sticking someone else behind the mask I may go insane. Why can't things go simpler instead of more complicated?? *sigh*
Now my theory is the Other turns into a reborn Ben Reilly. You like?? lol

I don't get all the 'Ben Reilly' stuff. What would be the use of him returning? There's no future storylines that would be interesting without bleeding over into Peter's stories, and I don't want to see another 'Peteralike' running around. If I want clone story characters I'll read SpiderGirl. I just get tired of great characters being copied endlessly. I call it the 'Thor' syndrome.
