NRAMA: Whoa… everyone was guessing Spider-Man but I think you may have caught them off-guard with the black costume.

Again, is this another case where you’re trying to come up with a synergy - if not direct relation -with the movie (i.e. the appearance of Venom and a black costume) in the core comic book titles?

JQ: Actually, no. We’ve been planning for a “Back-in-Black” story with Spidey for some time now, it’s just serendipitous timing that it will come out around the release of the movie. That said, we¹ll take complete credit for planning it that way.

And what would the world say if they saw Peter Parker standing next to someone in the black suit? That sure would solve a lot of problems wouldn’t it? Or would it cause more problems than one could suspect? Or could it be the worse, cliché cheat of all time?

I think it'll probably be Ben...That's the best way to "solve" the entire unmasking issue. All you have to do is have him come down as spider-man next to peter, and whip off the mask.

What would be the explanation? Peter's been taking pictures of his "cousin" for all these years? Aunt May and MJ would still be targets because they're known relatives. Ah who cares?!? If unmasking leads to a Ben Reilly return, then I will be a VERY happy camper.

Basically Gabe shows up, butt naked and about the size of the Juggarnaut. He kidnaps MJ, thinking she's Sarah. Peter talks to him, and leaves him on top of a building in France.
