Age shouldn't be an issue b/c Bale is starting to show it on film. I think the weight drop/weight gain did a number on his body. He looked pretty bad in TDK during the closeups where you can see the crow's feet around his eyes and the wrinkles. He looks late 30ish right now. So I don't see an age issue with Clive Owen. He's actually a great choice for Black Mask.

Clive Owen is my number one choice for Black Mask (though he sure as heck shouldn't look like the Toxic Avenger or Red Skull)

I also think Josh Brolin or Javier Bardem would rock as the Black Mask.

Just another thought, after seeing him on Dexter, what about Jimmy Smitts? Too old? Too Hispanic looking? Maybe he could pass for Italian since seemingly Roman Sionis by his name.

At the very least his performance on that show is a lot like how I would portray the character. Charismatic, very likable, a master manipulator and evil as heck.

I thought he looked a little haggard at times. Maybe putting on some more weight would make him look younger. Anyway, I always thought of Black Mask as being an older villain, so some actor who's ten or so years older than Bale would be a perfect choice to me.

I really like Viggo for this part, he's been good to great in most movies i've seen him in and I can definitely see him playing the role. Although, Clive Owens is not a bad choice either.

Javier Bardem would be another fine choice if he didn't have such a pronounced accent.

I really like the idea of Guy Pearce as Black Mask. My previous pick for Black Mask was Kiefer Sutherland. I think that choice was mostly based on my thought that whoever plays BM needs to have a distinct voice, seeing as he'll be wearing a mask for most of the movie.

While I like him in antagonistic roles, or even when he's a good guy he's still great at playing the ******* type of demeanor, I think Roman Sionis/Black Mask works better if it's a bit more subtle. Something like Guy Pearce in The Count of Monte Cristo. Arrogant, so to speak.

Yeah, to each his own, but I get your point. Personally, I'd like a more psychotic (not like Joker psycho, more like Frank Costello from The Departed psycho) and brutal figure if Black Mask was used.

Honestly, when the Riboflavin rumors hit, before it was realized that the script was an ameteur script, I was kind of excited, thinking that if any villain were to be a good follow-up after Ledger, it'd be Black Mask. I had the vision of a Frank Costello-type of character- an unruly mob boss who likes to do his own dirty work (Black Mask would do more of his own dirty work than Frank did, obviously).

I think the black mask should be in the third batman film just because he would fit in the Nolan world perfectly and the joker set the bar so high on bad things done to batman and Gotham that the only thing coming close to that would be the black mask, plus batman would be pursued by the police in the third film would he not ? so then have the police after batman and have black mask go after Bruce Wayne since Roman Sionis and having the black mask would allow more information on bruce waynes childhood because him and Sionis had play dates all the time, it would also have an opertunity to see the development of a villin

But Nolan should pull Phoenix out of retirement. Hes perfect for Black Mask

• Same Age as Bruce (Bale) just like in comics
• Looks Evil
• Could make his voice deep
• Phoenix is has been nominated oscar and been in but is not overly popular like Heath, Eckhart, and Bale were before they were cast
• Obivously a great actor

I know hes in retirement, but most likely hes gonna come out of it. If not make him "an offer he cant refuse"

Also if we have Black Mask in next film we probaly would need a big villain as supporting character. One that everyone knows (Black MAsk isnt that well known). I thin Penguin. But Penguin with no flippers and no overexaggerated nose

***Lemme explain the poll to ppl because I know someone is gonna complain lol. Okay if you know or read the wikipedia article you see the fact that Roman Sionis grew up with Bruce Wayne is a part of his whole villain psyche, so I tried to put ppl in the poll who were around Bale's age. Personally my first choice was Joaquin Phoenix. But since hes doing that stupid fake rapper thing I have to say that Casey Affleck is my number 1 choice

Black Mask is not like THe JOker or The Riddler who dont have a distinct age (you didnt say that, Im just saying). Black Mask does and the fact that he is the same age as Bruce is a key part of the character, if you change that then you will be wasting a key part of the character
