I'm for Black Mask being the main villian in Batman 3.

I don't know why but Hartnett struck me as interesting.

Michael Imperiolli or Simon Pegg. Both underrated actors who would be good in the role.
I know Pegg is an odd choice, but he had this kind of gawkish mania about him. It's hard to explain but it reminds me of what I imagine Sionis to be.
Like an inscect, someone who scuttles and seems very aloof.

When I imagine Back Mask, he's someone older, tall, physically imposing, and deep-voiced. I was kind of thinking I wanted Brolin for the role but I'm not positive. Has he ever played a villain before?

Black Mask is not like THe JOker or The Riddler who dont have a distinct age (you didnt say that, Im just saying). Black Mask does and the fact that he is the same age as Bruce is a key part of the character, if you change that then you will be wasting a key part of the character

The age of Black Mask is no more important to Black Mask than the Joker's bleached skin is to him.

^^^:huh:if you know the character Black Mask or at least read his history you will see that age is important to the character

I really hope Black Mask is in Batman 3. He's different than any villain done before in any previous Bat-movies, plus he's not all that well-known to people outside of comic fans so it would be something fresh for everyone.

I was always thinking Jeffrey Dean Morgan would have the chops to be him. He's got the right look, plus he could pull off being a successful businessman or a crazy bastard.

Really? I see him as the opposite; deep-voiced, tough, and intimidating! Just goes to show you how many ways Batman villains can be interpreted.

It depends on the route they take with the character in the film. The age isn't imperative, the psychotic, mask-wearing mobster element is.

Yeah sorta. Milk! I dont think we should only look at actors that has played villians.

I see what your saying.
I guess I just think that in my idea for BB3 that Roman grew up with Bruce like the comics. Bruce uses his mask and intimidation for justice, ROman uses it for crime, and Catwoman (who I also want in the film) is the grey area in between

This would be a really interesting character to bring on screen - there's lots of possibility....I'm actually in the middle of writing a post-TDK fan fic using Black Mask - I've dipped into his background story and then brought it up to modern day... here's some lil details which involve Black Mask in my take on the Batman Universe, if anyone's interested.... :oldrazz:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

- Roman Sionis and Bruce Wayne are friendly rivals in the Gotham's media, but Sionis is alot more cocky than Wayne by nature - among his constant teasing of Bruce, he claims that his 'Janus' cosmetics co. will outdo Wayne Ent. by the end of the year.

- Sionis is losing the financial battle and gets a little unethical in his tactics.... Having been already established as somewhat extreme and possessing the ability to be crazily cold, its not an uncharacteristic approach for Sionis.

- Also, the fact that Bruce Wayne is dating the beautiful Selina Kyle is making him bitter - she declined Sionis' countless offers of a date and isn't happy with the notion that she chose Wayne over him.

- More determined to get one up on Wayne, he gets Gotham's new Mob Boss, 'The Penguin' to invest in his cosmetics business.

- Janus Cosmetics are in the final stages of releasing a revolutionary product which almost certainly means Sionis will win the financial battle with 'Wayne Ent.' once and for all....

- Handsome, popular but vain actor Matt Hagen, an aquaintance of both Sionis and Wayne, eagerly wants to be the first to try it and regain his once youthful looks and add more time to his career. He had previous success being a posterboy for Janus' products.

- The experiment goes VERY wrong! :wow: Hagen becomes horribly deformed. (*cough* CLAYFACE*)

- Plagued by the media even more-so with this huge setback, Sionis focuses more on his relations with The Penguin and the mob.

- Sionis conludes the only way to salvage his reputation is to destroy Bruce Wayne's....

Here's the bit I'm currently working on;

- Sionis plan involves securing a mole within Bruce's company. Coleman Reese is very unhappy when Lucius Fox failes to promote him and feeling burned, Reese becomes Sionis's spy for a hefty sum.

EVENTUALLY, Reese gets caught by Wayne and Fox, who fire him. Reese asks Sionis to make him 'Janus' CEO and in exchange, he will delvuge Bruce Wayne's most secret secret of all!! :brucebat: Coleman Reese = Mr. Reese = Mysteries = THE RIDDLER!

--------------------------------------------------------

So there you go guys - that's as far as I've got!!! I dunno how primary or secondary 'Penguin' and 'Riddler' will be yet - but I do think I'll just have 'Catwoman's' origin in this one.... Also, I don't expect this'll be anyways like the 3rd Nolan movie AT ALL!! I simply created this story to be suitable for fanfiction.... Also, the notion of economy is quite topical at the mo!!

Thanks so much for reading! :woot:

I really want William Fichtner to turn out to be the Black Mask. He's an incredibly underrated actor. His character is obviously psycho- I mean, c'mon, the guy charged head-first after a group of mask-wearing, sub-machine gun- and machine pistol-wielding mobsters holding a shotgun? The guys got stones. On top of that, he'll most likely want revenge for what the Joker did to him and for what Batman did to his mob.

Hmm, yeah I guess he was a villain in Milk. I should rewatch that movie because I don't remember his performance all that well, except I think it was kind of understated. I was only asking because I'm trying to imagine what his Black Mask might be like.

...And if you know the character of The Joker, you know his appearance is important to the character.

But Nolan was able to tweak that aspect of him and have it work.

Also, Brolin is only 6 years older than Bale. Hollywood magic could easily make up that difference.

Also, they could still have grown up together if Sionis was just slightly older than Wayne, too. The ages don't have to be EXACTLY the same for that aspect of the story to remain intact. I voted for Leo in the poll, but I do think I would prefer Brolin in the role.

I think Karl Urban could be interesting in the role, too. He has a good voice for it, imo, and hopefully Star Trek will get him some beefier roles. And on the topic of voices, I love Russell Crowe's voice for a villain. Black Mask or no, I'd love to see him work with Nolan as a baddie.

Black Mask is the balls.

I like some of Mrs.JimGordon's ideas for the fan fic. I think a lot of those elements would work well in the next Bat-film, but sound like an incredible storyline for a graphic novel.

rufus sewell has always been my favourite pick for the character

I always thought of him as a very unbalanced, sarcastic twerp. To him it all boils down to sticking it to Mummy and Daddy.
It's all some childish rebellion, they made him be friends with Bruce so he wants to destroy him.
But psychobabble aside, he is truly nuts. I want to see his manequin wife. That could be incredibly twisted, seeing him talk to the dummy like it was actually alive.

I agree.....right now I see Black Mask as someone older and just a sinsiter dark cultish corporate head who is also a mob boss.

I wouldn't mind Leonardo dicaprio as Black Mask tbh. =P
