Blade Runner 2049 - Part 1

I'm assuming Deckard is officially a human in this or are they still going to leave it ambigious?

The Nexus7 replicant has human tissue and skin that ages normally like Arnold in Genisys ;)

I think it looks fantastic, and I love my nostalgia as long as it is good.

I think it looks good as well. At the same time, I never felt like the original needed a sequel either. It's almost kind of like making a sequel to Brazil or Twelve Monkeys IMHO.

I somewhat agree but with anything if it can be done well I say go for it. The one thing that makes me interested in it is the book actually dealt a lot more with society and how it works in the future, the hierarchy etc. Where Blade Runner did none of that. It seems from the synopsis of 2049 they are digging more into that aspect of Dick's work.

I think the key is motive. The Blade Runner world Scott and Co created has great potential for more stories. It just needed the right team who genuinely want to create something worthwhile in this universe. To not just cash in on the name, but to respect it enough to carry it on and say something interesting to a new audience.

And whilst I love Blade Runner, it still is only a cult movie. Maybe one the biggest and most influential... but still cult. Is there a huge financial potential in just the name?

Looking at the talent involved in front and maybe more importantly, behind the camera... well it says to me that they want to do this right.

I agree. Watching the Total Recall remake showed me how good the bleak future in Blade Runner looks in our modern time.

Good point.

^ I think he means the designs and effects have held up really well over the last thirty years.

Looks amazing but for me, it SOUNDS even better. My God, I just love the music in that teaser - old School yet futuristic at the same time.

Looks absolutely gorgeous. I just wonder how the GA will react cause the original was such a cult classic.

Sweet lord.

The cinematography makes every other cbm look like an old poop stain.

Picked up the 30th Anniversary bluray. about to watch it. I haven't seen the original in about 20 years

No it really does. Deakins is a master DP. Can't say that about any of the DP's on any CBM's.

Hmm, you could make an argument for Wally Pfister's work on Batman (the first of which used Blade Runner as inspiration) but then you'd be comparing that to Deakins' work which is, y'know, not even a debate.

All right, I'm about to give this movie a 3rd watch. I didnt like it the first two times but I'm gonna give it a last go and maybe third time's charm and I'll appreciate it more.

Whats the best version to watch?

My dad flipped out when he saw the trailer. I haven't see him that excited for a movie in a long time.
