Blade Runner 2049s third and final prequel short film, an anime from Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirô Watanabe, will be exclusive to Crunchyroll. The anime will exist as part of Crunchyrolls free service, meaning you wont need a subscription to watch.
This is a departure from the first two Blade Runner 2049 short films, which focused on Jared Letos Niander Wallace and Dave Bautistas Sapper, and were uploaded to YouTube. The third short, Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, is set just a few years after the events of the first Blade Runner movie and 27 years before the sequel. 2022 marks the year that an EMP detonation caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world.
