Folks, spoke to a few Oscar bloggers and this will most likely be divisive stuff. "Fanboy fiction" a Gold Derby guru described it to me. I have seen it and really liked it, but I seem to be in the minority.

It will be divisive. There are tweets out there from actual industry which are more mixed about the film but praise Deakins' photography (Tapley, Sasha, Debruge, Buchanan). Whereas the two British crix do seem to love the film (Collins, Bradshaw)

I've spoken to a few that I cannot really mention due to the embargo and just overall respect for them.

I will say this, fanboys will eat this film up. I loved every beautifully lit frame of this film. The screenplay is very average, but this is one of the most beautifully photographed movies I have seen in quite a few years.

Lol of course the movies going to have negative views. No movie is exempt. And the few actual movie journos who I follow and know are reliable have said it's very good. So I'll take their word for it before i see it thank you.

And Awardswatch is a forum, a pretentious one at that. They know no more or less than this forum lol.

Everyone being hypersensitive about a movie they haven't even seen yet, like disliking it is an affront to your existence.

I feel like this will be one of those films thats a hit with critics but audiences won't be very receptive too. Critics eat these quiet, meticulously paced, introspective films up for breakfast, but the mainstream audience who's going to the movie because they see Ryan Gosling holding a gun on the poster....I dunno...

Read somewhere that Ford said he and Scott finally came to an agreement whether or not Deckard is a replicant. Only someone like Ford could get in the face of their director and disagree with him about something that he himself wrote. :funny:

Wonder where Phillip K. Dick would have stood.

I'm now hearing the review embargo is lifting friday, a few days earlier.

Kind of like Dunkirk. You remember when Dunkirk came out the critics went bat-**** over it, one even going so far as to call it "a life transforming event."
Well I went to see it, and I liked it (especially the aerial dogfights), but I'd hardly call it "life transforming".

Just saw the anime prequel. Really made me want an entire Blade Runner Anime Series.

Like the people who hated Drive for not being enough like a Fast and Furious movie?

BLADE RUNNER review embargo moved up to Friday 6 a.m. PT -- 6 days, 10 hours' lead time. That + social predicts a 93% or higher RT score

I liked how Silvio, the corrupt cop, had his own little story randomly mixed in there. Then it all ties together at the end. A human Chekov's Gun.

#BladeRunner2049 is essentially NO COUNTRY FOR OLD REPLICANTS. Astonishing neonoir candy. For once, believe the hype.

Well Denis Villeneuve’s last movie was Arrival which a pretty slow paced, thoughtful, quiet movie. That film did relatively well thanks mostly to critical buzz.

The people who didn't like the first Blade Runner film probably won't like the sequel.

2049 probably isn't one of those sequels that is competently different from the previous film.

Same here man. I've seen BR twice and just couldn't get into it, I will watch it a third time with a fresh eyes and an open mind this week and really try to absorb it this time. I love DV and I love film noir so this has got to be up my alley, I feel.

I think, for me, the root of my dislike of the original is Harrison's Ford's extremely muted performance, it made the movie feel like much more of an endurance test for me.

Ford's performance was very much in line with the film noir genre detective stereotype. The disillusioned and cynical detective.
