Blade Runner 2049

I hope Jai Courtney is fantastic in his next couple of roles so he can stop being the obligatory fanboy most hated.

I'm curious as to what kind of film this will be. An action tent-pole or something in the vein of the original.

Excited and nervous. Blade Runner is my second favourite sci-fi of all time.

Wow, I did not expect this. Better than Scott at this point. I'm a little skeptical of Ford coming back, as I would have preferred a new story. Hopefully this doesn't lessen the ending of the first.

But I am excited. Prisoners is one of my favorite films so he can certainly take this in a certain unique direction.

I believe Ridley Scott mentioned that Deckard will be a background character and that the film would follow a female lead.

Ok, so it occurred to me that I've only ever watched the original Blade Runner once like twenty years ago and I wasnt a fan (i was 10). Figure I'd give the film another shot. Which should I watch, The Directors Cut, or the Final Cut?

Final Cut.

Director's cut is my favorite.

It's the only one where Ridley Scott had full control on what made it in (which, yeah he's hit or miss these days but this was definitely a hit), so it's the closest to his intentions with it. Plus I think it's got the best ending of them and it shows a little more of the environment, which I feel adds to the atmosphere. There are a handful of small edits too that fix little mistakes (like Deckard in one scene having a cut on his cheek when the scene just before he didn't, in the Final Cut it's been removed to erase the continuity error and the pigeon at the end has the backdrop fixed to actually match the scene).

The only one I've seen is the Director's Cut, which is excellent. Though I did see two scenes of the original and yeah, I'm very glad they cut that voice over. Curious to check out the Final Cut one day.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite sci-fi films ever. So I was a little concerned on the sequel, but I admit Denis being chosen has perked my ears up.

As for Blade Runner I grew up mainly on the DC of the film, but I easily prefer the FC. The Final Cut is much more polished version of the DC and just looks impeccable. The TC is okay, but the DC and FC are where it's at.

I recall really enjoying the workprint, because the overall roughness added a little to the film. But it's hard to go past the Final Cut for me any more.

Good. I like the idea of Rooney Mara as a replicant.

It's the cliche approach to everything. Hopefully she'll be a Blade Runner and Deckard will be sought out by her for help on a Replicant case.

The Final Cut is THE cut of the film to me. Whenever I see one of the other cuts on TV (usually the theatrical cut), I just can't watch.

The Final Cut. No stupid voice over and the Deckard twist makes for a better film IMO.
