BLADE RUNNER: 25th Anniversary DVDs Thread

There are some really subtle changes (nothing too drastic from the 92 DC), but they do indeed make the film better. My favorite is the changing of the shot of the dove flying up at the end. The previous shot was just awful.

I actually haven't watched much of it yet, just the first 10 minutes or so. New main titles, and a longer shot of Holden after being shot in the opening scene.

Ok...

what.
the.
F**k!!!!!!!!!

I went to future shop last night and they had the big brifecase set I want but only in HD and blu ray. I asked one of the guys if they had any of them that weren't in the HD/ blue ray format and he said that such a thing didn't exist.

What the hell !!! I thoguht they were doing it in all 3 formats!!!

Did something change and now its only available in hd or blu ray?

The briefcase IS out there in standard DVD.

See?!? I thoguth so...I knew I wasnt losing it. They guy gave me a weird look when I asked. I f**King HATE future shop.

Wel lthanks for helping out guys, I'll be looking around for it, I was honestly heartbroken when he told me that b.s.

Anyone else hate how stores have stuff diplayed now so the dvd's and hd/ blu ray stuff all bleeds together?

You mean the briefcase set is also on DVD!:cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

I got the 4-disc DVD set because I looked everywhere and could not find the briefcase set, I was also told it was only on Blu0-ray and HD.:cmad:

I didn't want to buy the briefcase, caue it is like 50 bucks more for extras I didn't want, so I just got the 4-Disc.

You were lied to, or the person was mistaken.

I bought myself the 4 disc on standard, as a Christmas present to me. :woot:

I had considered the 5 disc briefcase, but I simply am out of room for DVD storage, and I didn't feel like paying nearly 75 dollars for it. :wow:

75-78 (canada price) isnt that bad for a set like this to be honest. I feel that the features/extras are all well worth it. This set could have easily been 100+ bucks but it isnt.

I bought my two-disc copy of the Final Cut. The history of the film is amazing. I didn't even know the actor for Leon died back in 1999. :csad: I loved him in "Fifth Element". Many of the people involved in this film have done pretty well for themselves since then. They've even aged nicely too. I felt sympathetic to Harrison Ford when he appeared at the Scream Awards this year. I thought he was getting an award for a film that was so old. But I didn't know how frustrated his experience was during shooting.

I like the interactive menu for this edition. The first DC on DVD had a mediocre menu design.

I can't believe Guillermo del Toro prefers the narrative version. I frigging hate Dekker's narration! But it's awesome to see how many directors have been influenced by Blade Runner.

The only problem I have with this edition is the digital enhancements to the film quality. The contrast is slightly worse, making some details lost in this version. :csad:

just watched the Blu-Ray version of the final cut....breathtaking

Just watched the final cut, and yes, Blade Runner is still one of the most breathtaking and beautiful movies I've ever seen, and yes, its story is still fairly shallow. I do not hesitate to call this movie a visual masterpiece, but a total film masterpiece, I don't think so. The story still isn't that great. The characters are kind of shallow. We don't know much about Deckard, the replicants or whats going on with anything. Still everything else is wonderful, the actors, the cinematography, the set design, all completely top notch.

I just love the theme of "what it means to be human" so much

I get what you mean. After watching "Aliens" so much I realize how subpar it is as a sci-fi story. It reveals itself more as more action suspense than sci-fi thriller.

So I goes to futureshop today to look into the briefcase (btw parents got me the 4 disc)..friggin guy tried selling me an hd player. I grab the briefcase walk over to some shaggyheaded 18 year old employee and ask about the dvd version he says oh wel lthats HD and starts going into his pitch on hd players and how I should buy one.

Ugh I was so p.o.'d..

I told him "F**k you and your HD!"

I'll second that.

the price of the case to get the workprint is so worth it! deleted scense that could make a film of it's own, the idea that dekard might be a skin job, how this whole mess almost didn't get made? awsome!!
by the way... i got 8,253 out of 103,000!!

I just got done watching the Final Cut. Bought the 4 disc version so I plan on watching each cut on down the road.

Haven't seen this movie in a long time. I think I only saw it once, and I fell asleep because it does have a near hypnotic pace and atmosphere. So I don't remember it at all.

Is each version that different?

BTW loved the movie.

The difference between the final cut and the original theatrical cut is immense. The final cut is digitally corrected and more violent where as the theatrical cut has stupid narration and a happy ending for example

I was gonna buy this yesterday the one with the blue cover, but I'm still not sure if I'm gonna like it so I bought ghostbusters 1 and 2 instead. I'm gonna see it later this week so I'll decide if I'll buy it then.

Well, I pre-ordered the 2-disc edition of the Final Cut, and then I had to wait awhile for it to get here for various reasons, but I now I finally have it in my hands, and I am pleased. I didn't have time to sit and watch it tonight, but I most likely will watch the whole thing tomorrow night or Saturday. I've been a big fan of the Director's Cut since it was first released, but this is what I've really been waiting for. After I get to watch it from start to finish, I'll have more to say.
