Activision Blizzard's Overwatch shared(more games beside TF2 style) game univers

What? Unless this changed from the beta, I don't think it's true. You could just keep choosing the same character over and over again in regular. It's a poor strategy and all, and you'll going to probably die a lot, but you can do that. There is a mode that switches the character you have after each spawn randomly, maybe this is what you're thinking about.

No, you can choose whoever u want, but like Tron says, that's a poor strategy. I played a few different characters and change them based on map/mode/team layout.

thanks.

maybe it's as Tron said that I bolded. or maybe I misinterpreted what I read and it's as both of you say - that you should know more than one character for strategic reasons.

Those that don't switch characters based on what the match requires usually lose. I usually switch at least twice in a match. I'll start with someone that's great at getting things going and adjust from there. Usually if I'm attacking I'll start with Reinhardt and shield my team out of the base.

I usually swap between D.va, Tracer, Roadhog, or Mercy depending on situation and team composition.

so, should you be familiar with at least one character from each "type" or role?

Reinhardt seems to be a "tank" role. Mercy is healing/support. Tracer is offense?

Yeah learning and getting good at one of each role is very important. You have to adapt to the team's needs.

thanks.

is there a good resource guide online that tells you which role each character is and some strategies for playing them?

thanks, guys!

I don't have the game - prob going to wait till it's on sale.

but I'll check out those guides and start thinking about which characters to use and how to use them in their roles.

there are a few characters I'm already interested in just from a character perspective. Namely Mercy (hot!), Tracer (adorable!), and Reinhardt (ummm....knightly?).

All of them are clearly not on the same side if the animated shorts are any indication.

The bad guys in the Overwatch universe are Talon, they are basically the Cobra or Hydra of the Overwatch universe. Reaper and Widowmaker routinely work with Talon operatives.

Reaper is now an assassin and routine mercenary for Talon.

^ thanks.

well, I guess I won't play as Reaper even if he looks cool.

as a general rule, I don't like playing as bad guys.

Reaper isn't that good anyway. He had decent damage output, but if your team focuses him he melts like butter. I love killing a Reaper just as he starts his Ultimate. Feels good man.

Any character will melt like butter if the whole team focus' on them. Most of the characters are balanced pretty well. A few need some minor tweaking but I've never felt like one is just Super OMG OP

Bastion is really frustrating if you can't get behind him.

how is Mercy as a character?

since she's more healing/support, does she have good defensive/evasive abilities?

or is she more the typical fragile glass canon?

I'm not super fond of Mercy. She can heal and she can increase damage for a teammate she tethers herself to. I much prefer Lucio as a support character.

You still have to get within Hook range. Use Genji's reflect ability to just kill Bastion with his own fire :)

The hook has a really good range, though (at least, in the beta it did, not sure if it was nerfed or not), and with Roadhog's tank life, it's an easy kill. It was pretty much always my go-to whenever you had a campy Bastion. Hook, kill, health regen boost. I didn't play as Genji much, but Roadhog made Bastion by himself pretty worthless from my experience. Of course, it became problematic when you had a good team protecting Bastions.

I think they shortened Roadhogs grab just a little bit. He's still a great pick to take care of Bastion, but you can't grab him from as far. I like angling Junkrats grenades into Bastions camp spot. You can spook him away from sitting there and then hope he gets caught in crossfire.

Here's a good video on annoying characters and how to counter.

Are they going to sell the comic in brick and mortor stores?

I want to frame the comics in my house. Especially my favorite characters.

Imagine if they do an animated movie one day.
