Cheap Overwatch Collector’s Edition for $80 on PS4 and Xbox One . October 20, 2016 . 2:35pm

Overwatch CE is now only $80. Plus new low price deals for the PC version of Dragons Dogma and MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies.

Back in May the most expensive edition of Overwatch you could buy was the Collector’s Edition for $130. Well that same package, with its Soldier: 76 physical statue, is hitting an all-time low price at GameStop with a price reduction to $79.99. Historic low by $15, and possibly as cheap as we’ll see it go for before it hits eBay as a collector’s item with an inflated price point. (As a side note, the Overwatch CE has its list price dropped from $129.99 to the current $99.99).

Further along in this week’s deals are also other console titles of note. Discounts this summer were pretty much nada for the 3DS’ Monster Hunter Generations. That changed only recently with a drop to $29.99 at Best Buy. Funny enough this same $30 price point is still what Best Buy is charging for pre-owned copies of the same game. With the Nintendo Switch hype and eventual holiday season, we may finally start seeing some price movement on more 3DS games in just a few months time.

In PC deals, Bandai Namco’s upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting a small deal on next week’s release, with a 15% drop at DLGamer from $49.99 to $42.49. Best price online from an authorized retailer we’ve seen yet. Also noteworthy is GMG’s latest deal on Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen along with MegaTagmension Blac + Neptune VS Zombies – both titles are at least 40% off and both are at their respective historic low price.

Jeff Kaplan discusses the future of hero balance in Overwatch

October 24, 2016 20 Comments

Are all of the heroes in Overwatch balanced? Probably not. Some heroes are a bit more powerful than others.

But is that actually a goal? Director Jeff Kaplan weighed in on the future of balancing characters on the game’s official forums, pointing out that even if all of the heroes were perfectly balanced, there would still be heroes that were seen as better or worse than others based upon the evolving metagame, playstyles, and player preferences.

Kaplan goes on to explain that the goal is always to make all of the game’s heroes viable, but at times player perception will be that certain heroes are either useless or particularly good.

Some of that will come down to a matter of perception, and the job of the designers is to evaluate whether or not a hero is actually non-competitive or if the hero is just being used incorrectly. He also draws the comparison to professional sports, which have slowly changed rules over time to react to dominant and prevailing strategies. So don’t expect big, sudden changes for Overwatch balance; expect slow iteration and gradual evolution. Read more

Opened 35 boxes in a row and still DIDN'T get the witch skin... :( Thanks, Halloween.

I've spent $40 on boxes since they started the Halloween thing and haven't gotten Junkrat or Roadhogs. Those are the only two I want and I can't get them. It's ticking me off.

Ouch. We never get what we want. Got 2 (!!!) Junkrats and 1 Roadhog Halloween skins... What the hell. I basically got everyone, but Reaper and Mercy. Ticking me off too.

Nah, I'm tired. Maybe I'll buy a few more boxes tomorrow, but they better release Sombra soon, because I need some good news in Overwatch.

Also, we don't celebrate Halloween in Russia, we're Orthodox Christianity culture. :) Well, some people party, but I feel it doesn't belong much here.

lol my family are sevent day Adventist. well were not heavy into the practice any more. but we always managed to have Halloween, even though my old man never fully got it. but it's fun seeing people celebrate it or having partys. yeah I aware not every country celebrates it's it's most ly a north American thing though part of Europe like England celebrate it.

Well, it's not really about what anyone of us believes in or not (I'm personally an atheist), it's just many holidays come from cultural background. Some people here celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, wear green and run around like idiots. Ask most of them who Saint Patrick is (and what it has to do with Russia), most won't even answer. It's just a cool thing from the West. Just like Halloween. Nobody knows what it is, but it's cool. Pumpkins, 3-leaved shamrock... How to translate "trick or treat" properly in Russian? Because it was never translated and didn't exist in our culture. That being said, I don't mind people celebrating it or have Halloween-themed parties. If it's fun for you, if it gets you off - by all means... Country of free people.

By the way, is anyone following the World Cup 16? Sweden, Korean and US teams look really strong. Especially Korea. Russia is OK so far. As well as China. When a team picks troll characters like Sym and Torb and uses nano-boost on Sym, it's humiliatingly stronger than the opposing team. Poor Australians. US also trolled Chile with Bastion.

well my old man watch's the sport more then I do. I do watch it on occasion. but I'm more of a basket ball north American(<< more into playing it ) and then there's foot ball and base ball. if I manage to be at a base ball game.

Well I'll ask him what's going down. I for got those were on.

The loot box system is the only aspect of the game that I don't think is well designed.

Agreed. I hate it. I kinda wish there were challenge based skins to unlock or something for the characters. The random chance the loot boxes offer is garbage. All of the skins I really like I've had to purchase with the in game coins as I've yet to get them out of the boxes.
