Bodies of 200+ US Troops found in Dump!

Disgraceful! There's no excuse for this. Even Bin Laden's corpse was shown more respect.

To head it off now, this was done from 2003-2008, so let's not haveany 'Obama let this happen' bullcrap.

Sooo .. Clinton let this happen? I'm doing some freelance work for Fox News, so I want to get my talking points straight.

They prolly will blame Clinton.

There are no words for how ignorant and disgraceful this is.

If some Air Force official dumped my loved one's body in a landfill, I'd put his in one next.

The only possible redeeming factor of this is that at least it seems the remains were cremated remains, from what I've heard. And by 'redeeming' I mean 'something that puts it one level above **** spewing ********s'.

Or half a level.

No wait, same level.

The level of this is frightening and despicable. If you read it says there were another 1600+ also disposed of but rae too burnt to tell the DNA of. This is horrendous, a full out investigation must be mounted.

This is arguably the biggest scandal of the last decade.

OMG! I cannot believe that this is true! This is how you get paid for helping the military-industrial complex get richer! Bast****s! :cmad:

I knew that troops always got the short end of the stick but...to be literally thrown away after they stopped being useful?

I hope that people remember this the next time there is a war...and well after.

All this during a time when certain pols (you know who) were always spouting off about how if you don't support the war in Iraq, you're not supporting the troops, and if you're not supporting the troops, you're not a true American.

The title is a little misleading. These weren't bodies. When you say that, it brings images to mind of bodies piled up in mass graves. These were fragments. Incinerated fragments at that. I really can't get work up about this the same way I can't get worked up about an aborted embryo. So as to not sound completely cold, I guess they could have found a more "repectible" way to dispose of the material, but it's not as bad as it sounds. After all, how much money should we spend of disposing a two inch lump of flesh?

Agreed. Esp. as was mentioned, the fact that Bin laden's body was given a decent burial. What the hell? :cmad:

Can you imagine being one of the people who does the dumping?

Just standing there at the edge of a landfill, looking out at all those remains, all those people who's lives and bodies are being treated with as much respect as the milk cartons you throw out every day...

How could you witness something so utterly inhumane?

I don't know about you, but i'd want my loved one's remains delivered back to me... not thrown out like garbage.

Being dumped in the ocean is hardly decent.

"Here you go, ma'am. Here's the vial of your husband's remains."

These weren't bodies. It's fragments. What is the right thing to do? Give the family the literally pieces of their loved one? Conduct a whole burial service for a finger?

The fact of the matter is, that's what happens with human remains. What do you think happens whent a person has their leg amputated? They don't keep it around until the person dies and bury it with them. They burn it and toss it.

At first I was disgusted they would do something like this. However if it's fragments of someone blown to bits this seems more practical. Still doesn't seem right though. It's a shame families didn't get a say in this.

What do you think happens when someone's cremated?

They don't just go in the furnace and get swept into the coal bin!

The remains are kept, and given to the family.

Why this should be any different I don't know...
