Bohemian Rhapsody

Fletcher was onboard after Cohen left.

Frankly the worst thing about this whole project has been Queen having final say.

Dexter (baby face from Bugsy Malone) Fletcher!

Fletcher is going to get his buddy Jason Flemyng a cameo.

Cohen talked a bit about it on Howard Stern a while back, and while he wouldn’t say a specific name, he said that a member of the band wanted Freddie’s death to happen in the middle of the film, and then the entire second half would be about how the rest of the band overcomes the adversity.

Seriously? That's... awful and really self-indulgent of them, if true. Brian May is one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived, but let's be honest here... no one gives a crap about what the remaining members did after Freddie's death.

No one is turning up for a Queen movie to see Brian May do astronomy or animal rights protesting. No one is turning up for Roger Taylor's side band The Cross either or his solo career.

Everyone in Queen was an awesome musician but Mercury was the charismatic hedonistic showman and why my most people would even bother turning up for a Queen biopic.

I think that's another element Queen wanted to ixnay when Cohen was attached.

This will probably now come off like a cheesy Lifetime movie.

Exactly. Great points here. The whole band Queen existed of great musicians and songwriters, but of course they need to focus on the era with the charismatic and iconic front man. A really good biopic of that could be a highly enjoying experience, but I've set my hopes low for this now.

Singer is now being sued for sexually assaulting a 17 year old boy.

Just read the details. If it’s true, Singer should be thrown in jail for the rest of his life.

Wasn't he had alleged done this before? If Spacey's career is over then I don't see how Singer can survive this latest scandal.

The same lawyer that is bringing this case against Singer today tried to get him on a similar charge in 2014 and that case fell apart in court.

Lets not jump the gun until we see how this plays out

Interesting Trivia: Bryan Singer is the only director that has directed Marvel and DC superhero movies.

No other directors has accomplished that...sadly.

Marvel: X1, X2, Days of Future Past, X Men: Apocalypse

DC: Superman Returns

Bryan Singer is also the only director that has directed a franchise more than 3 times.

X Men movie franchise: X1,X2, Days of Future Past, X Men:Apocalypse

I guess Joss Whedon doesn't count yet since he went uncredited on Justice League.

The Russos? :oldrazz:

I'd be thrilled if this meant Singer never worked as a director again. I think he has great ideas from time to time that make him a great producer but I think his execution is awful and for the most part quite bland. He's especially terrible with characterization. He completely butchered the X-Men for me.

I think he's only directed one good movie that's terribly underrated and that's it. I never understood the praise for this guy.

If true, which I buy due to passed allegations made against him, I hope his career is over also. Not because of what he did to the X-Men though, but what he did to ya know, a 17 year old

I hope he rots in jail for what he did to the 17 year old. He can live the rest of his days getting raped on a continuous loop.

That’s just ridiculous. Not what people are there to see.

Agreed. I'm a huge Queen fan but the band got a whole lot less interesting after Freddie died, I don't think there's really a movie-worth story to tell there for half of a film. It wasn't just Freddie who exited the band, Deacon never really found that inspiration to keep going and only managed another 3 live performances with Queen before exiting stage left 20yrs ago.

On a sidenote, I watched an entire Queen concert last night with Adam Lambert and he has one hell of a voice. His range is insane. He'll never be Freddie and more importantly, he's not trying to be Freddie, and that's why they're billed as Queen & Adam Lambert rather than just "Queen" - but as a singer and frontman in his own right, he's definitely got something. I think May and Taylor made the right choice in going with someone who sounds quite different vocally to Freddie, but who undoubtedly has the power, control and range in his voice to easily sing any song from Queen's huge catalogue.
