Boondock II: All Saints Day..hell yes!

is Boondock 2 catching on? I feel there's no hype for it.
i actually saw a commercial for it the other day on tv. and about a week or two ago, there was a 1/2hr question and answer special hosted by Duffy and Collins. it was pretty cool.

check my link near the bottom. its coming to a couple places in maryland.

edit: actually, the showing in Alexandria, VA would be a lot closer for you then DC.

Thanks. Although I'm actually going to a free screening tonight with a friend in the city, so it's all good. THe theater's just a few blocks from my job, so that's even better.

free screening? nice. let us know what you think! I was gonna try and make it this weekend, but will have to wait until next weekend now. :/

I think anyone who loved the first film will definitely love this one. I really is just more of the same, but they definitely get to do a lot more, and there are just some great supporting characters, especially Romeo. I've always liked Clifton Collins Jr. as a dramitic actor, but him doing anything comedic is just priceless. Plenty of great lines as well.

And that's one of the things I really loved about the film, the dialogue is just fantastic. It's very much in the vein of Shane Black, who's just a master of witty retorts, not that he's as good as Black as an overall screenwriter, because he isn't. He still has a lot to learn about pacing and story development, and some of the editing of the overall film could have been better.

But there really are some great scenes, especially
Agent Bloom recounting the Yakavetta shooting, and the flashback starts with her dressed like an old west "Annie Oakley"-style gunslinger, as if she was really there while it was all going on, then it goes into the actual event, and Connor and Murphy crash through a high-rise window flanking her, and they hit the ground sliding on their knees, and killing the mess outta everyone!

It was a very odd, but interesting concept, and I think Duffy pulled it off pretty good.

Then, one of the most hilarious scenes,
Connor and Murphy were on a shipping tanker to the states, and working on tattoos on their back, discussing whether or not they should dye their hair, and Connor (Flannery) starts joking about Murphy, saying he'd probably dye his hair blonde, and how he'd look gay, but then he mentions the Outsiders, and says "Stay Gold, Ponyboy!!!", pissing off Murphy so much, he stabs Connor with the homemade tattoo needle!!! F***ing HILARIOUS!!!!

BOONDOCK FANS!

Many of you are upset that Boondock II is not playing near you. I feel your pain! To those of you who think I have anything to do with how the film is released, thanks for the vote of confidence but I don't.

"BOONDOCK II" IS SCHEDULED FOR WIDER RELEASE NEXT WEEK AND EVEN FURTHER THE WEEK AFTER!

Hopefully it gets to all of you. But the fans are fueling this thing. You're in control. As long as you guys keep showing up to the theaters it is presently in, it will spread like a virus. To the fans that "have" and "are currently" showing up, thanks. The fate of the rest of the flock is in your hands!

At this point with all the fan screenings I have attended with various cast members I have gotten to see this thing with about 3,000 fans, all in. Reactions have been off the charts. Personally, I'm a VERY proud Pappa. Victory is ours!

I know this does little to satisfy those of you who want to see it now and can't but patience, Grasshopper, patience...T.Duff

A sequel to a movie that is basically a sub-par Punisher clone? No thanks.

"Sub-par Punisher clone"? Uh, no. Nothing at all like the Punisher, outside of the whole Vigilante deal.

It's hitting the Universal Cineplex here on Citywalk in Orlando.

it was amazing imo
10 out of 10, gr8 acting, script, humor, action, enuff references to the 1st to be cool but not too many to seem TOO self referential. the theater was packed, every1 was clearly boondock fans and every1 clapped, laffed, cheered, at all the right moments. plus the ending and the twist and setUp for #3 was completely badass. not an oscar contender and technically not the best movie of the year but its the most entertaining movie of the year and that means more to me than an award winning flick.

i finally got to see this movie in mesquite tx the other day
oh my god...it was amazing...8.5/10
i loved it so much...one of the best sequels imo

Just saw this an hour ago. I wasn't a big fan of the first film, but I liked it but this film was really good. Still not a huge gung-ho fan of the series, but the ASD was good. I really liked the acting and the majority of the stuff going on in it. Like others have said, if you loved the first one, you'll definatly love this one. Lot of stuff in it, plot points are filled in from the first film and a lil' cameo at the end *wink*.

Over all, I give the film a 6/10. Not a fan, not my type of movie, but I did enjoy it. I think it made me laugh more than I was expecting. Favorite character would have to be Romeo in this. Hilarious.

Check it out if you have the oppurtunity to do so.

Watching this tonight made me wonder what the hell made me like the first one 10 years ago, probably nothing apart from the fact that I was 15 at the time.

There was something agonizing about this movie, I'm not even sure what kept me in my seat.

A local theater had a canned food drive last weekend, bring 5 cans get in free. When I found out Boondock Saints 2 was playing i knew immediately that i was going.

I expected this movie to be mildly enjoyable to outright terrible. I was shocked to find that the was fantastic (imo of course)
I really really liked it. When the trailers and such came out i thought i would hate the Bloom character. Bringing in a protege just seemed like a lame copout driven by Dafoe not coming back. Well if you've seent the movie you know how that turned out but really the Bloom character really grew on me.

One thing that suprised me was how outright funny the movie was. The first one was funny of course but this one had just solid humor.

I'm glad the Duce II character was expanded, finding out his history was interesting, and a nice adition and of course help set up what turned out to be the over arching plot.

Thats another thing, the plot of this move actually had a lot of depth to it.

When i first heard of this project i groaned that the world was getting another worthless sequel. I'm still not entirly sure if the world really needed a second boondock film, but I am very glad that it does.

I enjoyed it more than the first one. More humor and colorful characters than anything I've seen in a theatre this year. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to wait for dvd/blu ray.:)

I just saw this today. Freaking awesome. Not as good as the original, but to be fair, like Predator, you just can't top the original.

I really hope they make a third movie.

I liked the first movie, I did, then I watched "Overnight" and it made me hate Troy Duffy. What an ass.

That said, the prick managed to make an enjoyable sequel, I thought it was very good. The best analogy I can think of is this:

It's very much what Escape From L.A. was to Escape From New York. The first film, N.Y., being a serious flick with these campy undertones. When Carpenter made the second one (which is awesome) he was aware people responded to those campy tones and that's why L.A. is what it is. Peter Fonda surfing? :awesome:

All Saints Day is very much aware of its humor, it's doesn't take itself too seriously, which is great. A funny movie, especially Rocco's dream sequence.

Romeo and his golden silencer Mexican pistols, what's not to love? Ding dong mother ****er ding dong...

Yeah, pretty much. It came out when everyone and their mom thought they could be the next QT. Troy Duffy still seems to think that way.

I just saw this in the theatre which I did not think was going to happen but I drove by a smaller theatre than the one i usually go to and when I saw the listing pulled right in to get showtimes.

It's not the original but the brothers have good chemistry and it's still funny and entertaining. There is alot more humour this time around but the action is ok .The only shootout i really liked was the one at the end. Although swinging into the windows from scaffold was awesome. One of the best things about the film is Noah's backstory and the flashback scenes were well done.

The only thing I think is strange is how they tried to duplicagte the first film in so many ways . Romeo practically turns into Rocco and of course the female agent was similar to smecker.

The ending was badass though and i'm looking forward to a third film assuming one will be made.

This movie has done well considering it's limited release.
